Was sceptical at 1st over any bay that warranted a £394 price, but having used one can honestly say they perform to reflect this. Have also got a premium version that I'm yet to use (got the pro on the go at the moment) which should be very good as well I'd think

They are quality bats - on a par with Laver & Woods, although I probably prefer the Lavers as I am more used to their profiles! I'm sure if I take the time to get used to the Scat, then it would be an awesome bat!
Not cheap though!  :(

That's a bit of an under statement Peter.

Probably the most expensive bat out there apart from that laver that costs a grand.

i can see you buying one of those Pete.

The Laver & Wood Signature is £950, but with that you also get a 'Net' bat which is also Private Bin Grade 1 quality.
That plus lots of other bits and pieces. So if you minus the PB net bat and the other bits, the Signature bat alone is actually a bargain price of £500-600!! Put your wallets away though guys, as you are still oblidged to purchase the whole package!

I was contemplating getting a Scat but couldnt warrant the £400 price tag, you could get 2 ayrteks or a saf for that???

i have heard great reviews about them tho :)

maybe if the pound gets a bit stronger id consider getting one

Price is subjective, if you are loaded then you choose the best bat, but what separates the top tier from the pack?

For me it has to be performance and then every little trick to delight the buyer, I am lucky enough to have used the lot and will only use one source from now on but if I make a little money next year may send matching exact spec's to a couple of people for their take on it and what they would do with them, Julian being one if he is back making again.

From what I remember Julian had heart problems?
So he's just been recovering from illness I believe?

I could be wrong though!

He was taken ill, I hope he makes a full recovery but fully making by hand is a hard physical job.

I hope he recovers and continues to hand make his bats!!
He's one of the best, and would be a great loss if he gave up making bats!!
Glad he is on the mend!

thought I would chuck up a few pics of the pro and premium....whilst they arent perfect in terms of appearance this just shows the advantages of grading a bat of performance and not turning your nose up at something that isnt blemish free etc without 1st seeing how it feels....

the Pro is 2.11 with 29mm edges but plenty of wood behind the middle, whilst the premium is 2.9 with 24mm edges.
