Impala Royal Prince
« on: October 19, 2008, 08:37:29 PM »

Ive been looking to buy an Impala bat for some time now and I've finally managed to get hold of one, I've heard quite a bit about Impala bats on various forums etc and was more than keen to get one and review it.

I picked the Impala Royal Prince from around 10 bats as it was more or less the specs id ask for if buying a custom made bat. The pick up and balance are quite superb and every single bit as good probably better than any bat I've owned and I've had one or two. The profile is quite big without being too big, grains are straight and clean around 9-10 which is what id normally ask for.

The handle has the counter balance design which is new to me and i like it, the pick up and balance is superb as is the whole craftsmanship of this bat, i will be buying some more very very soon.

nice bat there. I'd imagine this would be an older bat?

really nice looking bat.

Can anyone provide more information on the counter balancing system?

Are these bats available in the UK

Basically, the top of the handle is wider and raises the centre of gravity, therefore seeming the bat to be lighter when picked up and not be bottom heavy

Can anyone tell me what they use at the top of handle for counter balancing?  Is it just a thicker handle top like Sambo says?

My impalas handle is just thicker up top (more wood) on the "knob" of the handle

My impalas handle is just thicker up top (more wood) on the "(No Swearing Please)" of the handle [/quote

Haha, does that really count as a swear word?

I think it's too much of a difference in weight just for it to be a thicker piece of cane. Perhaps there's some lead in it, or a dense wood which would be allowed under the new laws.

mate, i think it is just a piece of cane, but it is exceptionally wider than a standard handle. roughly 30-50% wider than a normal handle

I imagine tom knows what we are talking about, looking at mine now it does look like there is something else added inside it to make it heavier.

they go through the whole handle don't they? So i dont think they really contribute all that much to the counterbalance effect
