Sky exclusivitiy for the Ashes?
« on: September 24, 2010, 10:17:47 AM »

For those of us without Sky is this really true - that we aren't even going to get any highlights of the Ashes? If it is then that is ridiculous. Harrumph!!!

Cricket Australia are still inviting bidders for terestrial highlights.  They just haven't received them as yet, as far as I am aware.  I'm sure someone will snap them up.

If not there's always the faithful old internet.  I'm sure you would be able to find a feed somewhere.

I just had Sky+HD put in this week, so I'm good to go :-)

Due to the time difference, whoever is going to show will almost be a day behind realistically. By the time you get to watch it you'd have heard/read so much about it its going to be a bit old anyway

I'm a very lucky boy in that my cousin works for Sky Sports, so I have a friends and family deal.  Only costing me £42 per month including phone and broadband, and I have the full package.

None of the UK terrestrial channels will bid as Cricket Australia are charging too high a price.

I don't pay for sky sports because I feel like I'm subsidising football. If only you could pay for the sports you like, the Masters going to sky is the icing on the cake. Fortunately there are many places you can watch highlights nowadays.

Seems a bit unfair on terrestrial viewers
However I do prefer Sky coverage alot better than Channel 5 or BBC back in the days

I tend to only pay for Sky Sports on the basic sport package in the summer so I can watch the cricket. As you can canel after a month, May to August usually works fine, then I am not paying for football, and winter cricket times are usually so far out from when I can actually watch them that I don't feel like I'm paying for football.
