Right Amount Of Gear
« on: September 25, 2010, 05:37:13 PM »

What do you guys think the right amount of kit is for an U15 player, play county and 2 clubs, a school, one club in London and one club in Birmingham area.

Was thinking of two bats, maybe a net bat, 2 pairs of pads, 2/3 pairs of gloves, kit bag, duffle bag, spikes, indoor trainers, aero strippers, 1 helmet.

What amounts do you guys use and what would you think i should get?

Thanks

2 sets of gloves, 1 bat, 1 pads, large wheelie, helmet, trainers, spikes and a thigh-pad if you wear one.

im definitely getting two bats, one high middled, one low middled, the difference between a slow low May wicket and a rock hard August one is difficult to ignore ;), also 2 pairs of pads because I can play( and have done last year) games on 14 days in a row, which makes all the gear very sweaty and sticky, so two pads for that reason, 2 sets of gloves for matches, perhaps one pair for nets, duffle bag, because i got to take my kit on the tube so a large wheelie is impractical, what you tink?

No point getting two bats imo. I've used mine on slow and low wickets and bouncy wickets with the same success results.

I have two pairs of gloves but use one pair mainly. I let other people use my kit too so that helps if they use some of my gloves then I have another pair so they're not all sweaty.

yes, but im getting specialist, modern bats, with most of the wood removed and put into the middle, so if i get just the 1 then itll make a big difference, whereas 2 bats with those types of middle will be much more beneficial to my game :)

nah peplow, these were just suggestions for reasons why i would get this kit, not a mind made up, just playing devils advocate to you all so we can get the best arguments out and i can make an informed decision :)

Isnt it important to get used to one bat and how it plays?

If you can afford it do what you want but I don't think it's necessary for all of that kit.

well theres no need to get angry peplow, and yes it is important to get used to a bat, but i play so much that i will get used to all of them :) and 2 pads because if you play on a saturday and it rains, you dont wsanna play with wet pads on a sunday, 2 bags because i dont want to take allll my kit to training and on the tube a wheelie bag is ridiculous.7

Sam 4 or 5 is ridiculous, high and low is much more sensible

What if there is a pitch with more bounce at one end than the other. Are you going to change bats in between overs? No, you will just put up with it!

Any more than one bat is pointless, even if they are identical. Each bat with perform differently. A bat with a high middle will be fine early season, as I found this year. Getting a low middle bat and a high middle bat is unnecessary. Some peoples game are not suited to low middle bats.

I wouldn't say 2 pair of pads is necessary as if i have had a sweaty innings on a saturday then leave the pads out over night and they are dry!
