As I've said before, I think my Masuri is a little small. On the lowest grill position, the bottom of the grill is just about level with the chinstrap pad. Is this in the right place, or should I acquire a different helmet / grill combo?

are you thinking you might need a grill that covers lower down?

Maybe try albion grills? don't know if you have a mate that you can borrow to have a go with.

Not sure how well Albion grills fit to as masuri helmet??

As long as u maintain a gap of 55mm between the peak and grill so that a ball won't fit through it

Swann used to wear a masuri helmet with albion grill. whilst playing for notts.

Swann had a masuri grill on his GN last summer.

Bet he is gutted that he can't mix and match with GM helmet and grills!

The peak/grill gap wasn't really what concerned me. The grill on the warwickshire helmets clearly covers below the chin, and on me (ol' bighead) the masuri grill doesn't. Is this normal?

depends on the shape and size of your head, different style grills obviously cover different part of ones face. The masuri style grills cut back in towards the chin where as the ablions give a wider perimeter to them and are therefore further away from your face and may well cover your chin as well

Try to have a look at some pictures of broad and pietersen batting recently as they have had different grills on their unbranded masuri that don't cut back in as much

I'd much prefer to have a gap between the peak and grille rather than not cover my chin fully. I've had a fractured jaw and a depressed cheekbone fracture from rugby before, both required sugery and Titanium plates but the worst I've done to my eye is closed it a few times through swelling. I know rugby blows are mostly punches, kicks or heads impacting but the eye socket is stronger than the jaw. Having said that after having my jaws unwired after 11 weeks and playing the following weekend I received a big haymaker right on the affected area and it was solid so maybe worth looking at Ti plates in the mouth to save having to wear a bulky helmet!!!!!!!

tim as promised...albion grill goes fine onto a masuri lid...its the masuri grill u wont get on an albion lid without enlarging the holes!

Brilliant. Next question, as I can't see details on the web, is theree only one size of albion grill?

tim yeah they only do one size of grill for Albion helmets so any one will suit
