Ok, this is a survey more than an items wanted, as I cannot divert funds at the moment, however, I see the occasional reference to long blade bats in the forum and wondered how easy it was to obtain used long blades. I know that custom orders for new are very easy. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Lots of pros use long blades. Not too easy to find use as not many are sold retail.

How much is the profile/pick up affected compared to a normal as it will affect it as may have to look at trialing one of these

I am 178cm and have a longblade GN. It was a mistake for me to buy it as I have found that the pickup is very heavy. It weighs 2lb7oz but feels like a 2lb10oz I know this because I also have a standard blade 2lb 10oz Impala. I rarely use it, it just sits in my study gathering dust. If you are under 6ft2 don't get one. If you want an extra light pickup get a shorter blade, longer handle bat i.e mongoose, newbery TT

Does the Impala have a counter balance?

I feel in same weight and profile longer blade / ssh picks up and feel better than standard blade / SH but slight slow in bat speed.

Yes the impala has counter balance but I have removed it to test the bat in it's natural state. Physics tells us that a longer blade will have a heavier pickup. You can test this by using the bat upside down. You get the same dead weight(of course) but the pickup is lighter because the heavier part of the bat is in your hands.
