Maybe something to learn here from the little master: if you get a good'un, keep it until it's unusable!

He obviously gets on very well with this bat and it does what he wants it to do
why on earth would he use another one?
Because it had the latest stickers?
If you get a good bat keep it until it literally falls
apart
of you don't you are plainly stupid or have too much pocket money

It's a bit of a pet hate of mine that people quite often sell bats on here that supposedely have the most amazing ping ever - well, if it's that good keep it!

I remeber warne saying during the 09 ashes as a comminator that he doesant beilve in warm ups
Couldn't agree with him more. Any preperation for a game should have been done beforehand in terms of fielding/batting. The only excuse is for bowlers picking ends and bowling before a match with the keeper.

If you're fielding at slip, do you really need to warm up? Perhaps catch 4/5 balls, otherwise nothing.

So you're basically saying you would rather go into a match without stretching, having a few throwdowns or bowling a bit and increasing your chance of injuring yourself? Thats the whole point of warm ups, to prevent injuries...

No, I meant that there is no point in batting/fielding drills other than catching. I never said that there shouldnt be a warm up; I think it is essential for all outfielders but is it really relevant to slip fielders? I  said that all preperation should be done before a game in terms of fielding/batting etc.

I think it's all individual. I know that my first over as a bowler will be far better if I've had one or two overs to warm up in the nets so that I am flowing. Some may get on better without that.

If that was the case then why do all international and franchise sides spend so much time on it? Preparation is just as psychological as it is physiological, a routine builds confidence

We had a long conversation with Jimmy Adams on this topic when we were in Jamaica, as he had been playing T20 in the UK . His comment was that for T20 you can turn up and slap it around a bit. You don't really need a warm up. 50 overs it was probably worth it and test match when it could be 90 it was absolutely worth it.

Again I'm not referring to International or professional players, but club players.

I think it's really a case of each to their own. I've played enough games with the same group of players to see that warming up really makes very little difference to their performance and match practice makes a huge difference.

At middlesex we have like a 45 minute warm up, bascis stretching etc. feilding drill then the bowlers have a bowl , and the batsmen have a hit, I think its just the physcoligical factor, i.e ur all part of a team and working together pre-game, so in game u stay more as a team.
