« on: October 13, 2010, 03:49:40 PM »

well have just finished making my 1st ever bat it is not great and critizism is due i think but for somebody who never did woodwork at school and only got the idea from here i think it a ok effort....

not polished it up it in the sanding stage....

i will not lie the cleft came with the shoulders done all i had to do is shape the back and do the edges and spine....

The shape is not one i preticular like it reminds me of a warsop i got off liam a while ago but hey i tried my best pictures coming up

yeh i found the edges the hardest to even up on my 1st effort....wasnt bad at the old woodwork or raw materials at school so being fairly hand on helped i think. just a case of picturing what u want and then not getting to carried away with taking off too much.

yes got a compound here a special ingredient all i need now is one of the mop head tool things or might get a stand alone buffer...

got to say the travisher is a top tool in my eyes i enjoyed whittling this beast down to the tooth pick might need a drawknife and possibly a number 4 travisher

anybody got any other tips

i only use a draw knife and travisher mainly.....not that im by any means know what im doing!!! but the last 2 part mades i got off of mike that needed some shaping and the handles finishing were pretty easy in comparism to starting from scratch i thought
