Part Made on the way !!
« on: October 15, 2010, 04:47:13 PM »

I have ordered my 3rd part made from Mike :D
I have decided to go with a pre shaped one, might see if i can pass it off at my club as i made it completely :L
I was wondering what is the best thing to do with a pre shaped one in terms of keeping the shape and taking the weight down ??

Cheers
James

handle will need shaping as the majority of the work will be on there in terms of finishing it off, weight reducing will be either concaving with a travisher to remove some wood i would say from experience after doing 2 previously from mike

Draw off the excess handle on face and back, then shape the handle to your preferred shape, you will then need to finish the shoulders as the edge line will go up at the end to avoid splitting, the same with the toe, then you can simply sand or adjust the shape/weight as you see fit.

Meet Mike yesterday and he had a boot full of bats and he had some belters in there i and i chose this pre shaped one to finish and i must say what a bat !!
I know as soon as i take it to nets i will be offered an arm and a leg for it
Mike said it was the same shape he had been selling to the pros!
The edges are around 30mm at there biggest and weights in at 2lb 13oz stickered, scuff sheet and 2 double thick grips
The bat seams to go like a train and i have not started to knock it in

Crikey, that was quick, how did you find the handle shaping.... after watching a master class yesterday I'm sure you had a few new ideas.

Don't know if it was your intention but you've made a bat almost identical to the Tendulkar profile!

Yeah would say getting that down to closer to 2.10 will help alot with your bat speed mate and give you a wider range of shots

I think to see you using a bat heavier than mine was a shock, I think most of felt that it was too heavy and you would play better regardless with a lighter bat, get knocking in the new one and see how you get on.
