With bats in mass production as they are, the range of good and bat bats will be bigger. You could get a better performing bat from Kook than Redback etc, but it would be luck of the pick I suppose. If you went for a bat such as Redback you would be much more likely to get the best the batmaker had, the chances of getting a dud across a much smaller production of bats are much less
