Taverners
« on: October 27, 2008, 08:37:44 AM »

Hey guys,

played U17 Taverners on the weekend and I kept for 67 overs.  We made on the first day 1 for 234 and resumed on and went on to make 5 for 280 declared. lost 4 going the tonk

We then went and bowled, the pitch was as dry as you will ever see,  it was cracking like you would not believe!  There was cracks that were 3 cm wide and about 10 cm deep!  Our opening bowler who bowls around 125 bowled a ball in the 3rd over to a lefty that pitched 20 cm outside leg, i went down the legside only to see the ball hit something and jag back past the lefts offstump, i stopped and dived full lengh back on the offside to miss it by abour 30 cm. Luckily 1st slip had bent over and he caught it ankle height!!!!!!!! it was crazy! the batsman stood there and look bemused. We were cacking ourselvers!

Our tall lefty bowled from the other end to the other lefty. The first ball of his first over (ie the second over) hit the thigh pad down the legside then caught the bottom of his glove and went downwards.  I had to movre across and then dive fulllengh forwardd to take the catch. We all went up but hte umpire just stood there. Once we had stopped appealing he walked over to square leg and had a quick chat with the other ump and raised his finger!  great decision

got anther catch off louis, a boucer that was a top edge and had to run backwards and catch it looking at fine leg.

Only let through 2 byes both legside standing up on a shocking deck, really happy!  We took 7 wickets as one guy who was so overweight he had man boobs got abotu 10 off 20.................................. OVERS!! lol

Both umpires were brilliant, some of the best we have ever had and i would like to congrats both of them

Cracks 3cm wide and 10cm deep? Bloody hell...

I'm surprised they let you play.

Well I guess you mean Trevor Barsby so you either play for Sunshine Coast or Valleys.

Hmmm I have Taverners for the next two Sundays, you are lucky I haven't got either of those teams.

Yes it was which one were you umpiring?   We were on the centre field, i was keeping second week, i had the green and silver pumas if you saw? Did you do the uni v someone or were you on the main field?

Why am i lucky you have not got us "the sunshine coast"? Who are you umping this sunday?

Eunit, how many byes have you let through mate,  2 byes so far this season in 200 overs of keeping is pretty good hey'?

Noz why are you so bothered about byes.  Keep it under 5-6 a game no-one complains.  Drop a catch and let through no byes, more people will be bothered?

Worry about taking all the half chances, instead of letting through minimal byes and forgetting about your main job!

Because even letting through one bye really pisses me off.  I only let though about 8 or so the whole last season in 3rd grade.

Dont worry i take all the chances, letting though byes is screiwing with my main job of catching the ball!
