I batted at 3 this year and every other position down to 9. Scored a ton batting at 7, moved to 3 the next game got 30 odd then moved back to 9. Needless to say Im glad that captain has been replaced after only one season!!

30odd batting at 3 before getting out to my Dad ;)

Ha, slashed it straight to gully it was a ball I really should have left!! I wouldn't mind but your dad had me on my knees tying his shoe laces later in the game, I truly was his bitch that day!

I'm a 7/8/9 number batsman for my Saturday seconds side and am also regularly used to either trying to hit 20 or 30 to boost the score due to ' Boycott ' style openers or having to see out 15 or so overs for the odd bonus point.
This is frustrating to say the least. I also find that waiting to go in down the bottom of the order can play on your mind.
The last Sunday 1st game of the season, my skipper said I was to open. I actually quite enjoyed it. Played in a vee and hit the bad ball when it came.
I am going to work hard in the nets in the winter to try and get a stronger defensive side to my batting and look to open more regularly next season.
It's all about discipline. Play straight I keep reminding myself!!!!

straight is the key mate!

i am consider a big hitter. but i hardly ever play across the line and slog to leg.
the straight 6 over the bowlers head is the most satisfying shot to play.

My defense is strong i cud bat all day and not get out. i only seem to get out when playing agresive shots 9/10 caught.

im all well and good early when the field is in but when the fielders are on the boundry thats where i need to change my game. instead of trying to clear them i need to pick up my bits and work hard. thats what i really need to work on something i cant really practice in the nets
