just wondered if anyone has any knowledge on the following: -

is Kashmir willow and English willow nurtured in India the same thing?

how bad performance wise is kashmir compared to various grades of willow?

does Kashmir last as long as English willow?

does anyone have any positive experiences using Kashmir willow bats?

we all slag off Kashmir willow but I wondered what the reality is?

Kashmir is the same as EWNI
Some Kashmir bats can be good some bad, this is because the best kashmir willow may be used for something like fruit packaging and you may get a really bad piece made into a bat. Its a lottery.

Kashmir willow will usually last as long as English Willow

My first bat was Kashmir and went fairly well, but would never use Kashmir again!

It is not as good but is very cheap, some must be nice looking as I got fooled by one in India, many more get conned here on ebay.

cheers guys. I was thinking of a backup bat for netting/T20, as I play alot of games and I'm down to 1 slightly cracked G2 bat for next season at present. Some of CJI bats seem to have good reviews and at throw away prices. Anyone had any experience of these?

Love to get a £150-200 bat but can't stretch that to at the moment thanks to the bloody teenagers :-(

My school has a CJI set of bats. They're all very good and ping well, however seem to crack a bit easily...I suppose it depends on the price, though

really anything you can tell me about the kashmir models - how would you grade the wood, ping, pickup, longevity,etc?

yes kashmir willow & EWNI are same....EWNI is generally blemish/Knot free kashmir willow and comparatively light weight....i guess one should use a Lower grade 3-4 English willow bat rather then using a 35-40 Quid Kashmir willow bat...if u search around then u will easily get Englsh Willow bats in less then 50 Quids which are quite better then going for EWNI....

tempted by the CJI 5000 Ultimate - they say they hand pick the best 30 out of 100 clefts, so it ought to be better than most. That said £35 (ebay) posted is getting dangerously towards english willow refurb/G4/G5 territory. Sort of thinking about it as an experiment that I can report back to the forum about. ie. grains, ping, pickup etc. If the thing proves to be decent and more than a net/t20 bat then it's a bonus.
