Are they really more money than newbery if you assume SPS=G1, Players=G2?

I'd need to learn more about the set up before I was convinced. Are the bats still made by Newbery/Keeley? If he makes them his self that appeals more to me. No disrespect to Mr Keeley but you can buy his bats labelled as so many other brands now it all gets a tad boring.

then making a decision, dont wanna jump straight in like a little kiddy who sees something new and wants it then regret it as 1 bad bat out of 4 is 25% of mine where as to the mega bat buyers it would only be 2% hehe!!!

Peplow based on my experience I would absolutely recommend the bat although I bought it at a lower price.

In all honesty buying from an unknown (relatively at least) company I would have never paid 200 first time around. I generally don't buy 200 pound bats so have never gone for any of the more expensive brands. In terms of quality the only thing I can comment on is the pickup and the finishing for a 2lb 9/10 bat. It is absolutely top drawer. I will take it to the nets next Friday but I guess most of you can not wait that long

Good prices those, similar going rates to those on here! Also, lower grade pads and gloves going for �32 and �17 respectively is very good, especially for those on a lower budget!

Are you sure Players is Grade 2? I heard from people and they said that Newbery along Salix, M&H and few others only make Grade 1 bats..

Well it is certain that Newbery bats are not made in India whereas I remember talking to Mike (Talisman) once and he said that Tim Keeley presses all of the Newbery bats because Nick and his brothers can't press the bats as well as Tim, hence, he only does it.

However, having said who make Newbery bats I think it is Nick who make majority of those them now while Tim doesn't make as much as he used to do.

Take that on board, but the use of the term 'grade' can be confusing. There are those who call it G1 and G2 because that is how it was bought from the supplier. There are then those who claim to only make in G1, whom we must assume are left with huge stockpiles of G2 and lower clefts

If we grade on looks alone, I don't think I've ever seen a G1 Screaming Cat for instance.

Grade means nothing as it can mean so many things. I'd prefer makers to refer to their best bats as 'best' and anything less (whether it be flawed by looks or performance) to be refered to as a lower model. One man's G1 is another's G3.

Back to your point, Players is grade 2 because it is the second level of bat that Newbery make. So in this instance yes, a direct comparison can be made.

Sounds fair, I had always thought Players is also a G1.

But as you said one brands Grade 1 can be Grade 3 of others. To be honest, I have seen a players Newbery looking much better than some companies so called 'Grade 1's'

I just think from last year to this year generally prices of bats have gone up a lot. I have not been on the forum for long so don't know whether that is a general trend or net. I would think it is a fantastic chance for a newish brand to price themselves a little more competitively but if they rename their bats to platinum for 160 and L.E for 200 we would not be having this conversation.

I can tell you for free that M+H do not solely make G1 bats, for a start on their website you can buy G2 bats... I think the pricing is very good, it's difficult for a lot of new batmakers to have lower prices, because although they don't want to be priced out the market they still need to make some sort of profit on it. Jonno (the guy who runs it) clearly has quite a good local audience, so he'll have a decent income from them, and who they tell, but he still needs to make a decent name for himself!

Its easier for a small bat maker to turn a profit. By cutting out the retailer they double their profits.
