remember reading somewhere that dowlling causes a dead spot and doesn't do much more than glue - in fact I think it might weaken the bat. That's one for the experts!

Yes, but as it's in the toe, it's a dead spot already! To be fair, once a crack gets above a couple of inches, glueing it tends to leave a dead spot too.

I'd dowel it with some wood glue personally and see how it goes, drill in deep enough to help pull the crack together with the dowelling...I use a glue called woodweld which expands upon drying to fill the area and well and bonding it together

As repair sounds like its. Pretty terminal will dowell + glue myself talisman you are welcome to the classic bat but may need a back up bat

On closer inspection 3 inches plus so done.a DIY job with a couple of dowels hopefully if I have a problem with my saf this will get me througjh a game or 2.

Mike you can have thje buttterfly if you owe me a favour in the future.

I have seen people nail their bats to fix cracks. Apart from the cosmetic side, does nailing actually work?

cant imagine its strictly legal and if ur going to use anything a screw would be better as it will pull and keep the wood together better

saw this particular bat in action in a Lords Taverners game at the Harrogate over 40's tournament. I don't think anyone really cared!

Maybe a really nice cleft for SAF to make a bat at some point as I believ you supply his willow
