Their booking systems are fine. You just need to book six months ahead.

My club started at the beginning of November.

Just the six?!crikey!

I'd much rather hire aa sports hall than a couple of nets at the Oval personally. Means you can do other stuff as well as just net- I find I get bored/lose focus after 2 hours solid netting. would prefer to mix it up a bit.

Any coaches with tips for drills/ideas for net sessions?

I've done/trying a couple of things recently:-

1. Video cam the batting - as long as the camcorder doesn't get hit you can stick the stuff up on youtube/website. People love to analyse their batting.
2. Bowling accuracy - do a 3 * 3 grid with the column headings being outside off/just outside off to stumps/legside and the row headings being full or overpitched / good length / short . The basic idea is to hit the middle square as much as possible (stumps / good length) with the top left 4 squares being acceptable (outside off to stumps and full to good length). It's fun more than anything particularly scientific, but also revealing.
3. Bat swap - get everyone to try someone else's bat or a couple of bats. Helps people understand what bat suits them - it's not always the one they currently use.
4. Sometimes work on plans to unsettle batters - ie. if we know he's weak against the short ball we bang it in. Good for the batters as they can work on their weaknesses.

works fine except at the oval you get so much swing that to hit the stumps you have to bowl slightly differently!

I have been a level 2 for 3 years now. All I would say is practice your demos as those are the only thing people fail on. Otherwise the best advice I can give is take time to watch other coaches esp experienced Level 2's and 3's. I coach and teach for a living and the best way to learn is by watching other people.
