New bat
« on: November 13, 2010, 10:34:53 PM »

I am in need of a new bat. I tend to hit the ball very hard and well just enjoy a bit of a slog  ;) However im not looking for a 20 20 shorter blade bat.
I have been looking at: Choice willow, redback, screaming cat, black cat, lekka, saf.
Can anyone help guide me?

Be prepared for a barrage of pm's as plenty to choose from just depends on your budget and shape

Welcome to CBF, James. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

James, few things before we suggest you a bat;

What type of bat do you want (low sweetspot, high etc)?
What weight do you use or have used in past?
What's your budget?
Any bats you fancy? I mean have you used any particular bat at club etc which you really liked?

Hoping to hear soon!

I echo what Cover_Drive said: welcome to the forum! Solitaire bats have been reported to have great ping: though, the weights do vary...
Tbh, all the brands you mentioned above make quality bats, I suppose take the best deal: I'd also add brands like Ayrtek and H4L/Talisman etc. Into the mix!

i have used choice willow previously and found them very nice, ideally a 2 pound 8/10. low sweetspot and i want a bat that will strike the ball hard when its middled, but still goes even when it isnt middled. Below 200 pounds ideally

Aahh: I see, though I'm sure this applies to most brands- solitaire is good value for money then, at just £100- though weights are a problem. All the brands you've mentioned do sub-£200 bats...

From the reviews i've read on here, redback sound quite promising as well?

Oh yeah. I mentioned solitaire due to your budget; but really, any of the brands will deliver SMS quality bat to your specs for a reasonable price I feel!

Pressing/Quality of finish is an issue with some brands, buy British....

From British list I would recommend Redback. Gary make impressive sticks and is very good batmaker. With his bats I am sure you won't be disappointed.

You will find that with the top end BAS and SS the quality and finishing is up there with the best. The bats are huge and if you want a chunky shape with a light pickup then you wont be dissapointed.
