Very harsh he Is not a bad spinner just not an attacking one gets his wickets from keeping it tight rather than going after the batsman but hey all good news for England if aus are messing about :)
What's more shocking is that Steven Smith is the second spinner! Where's O'Keefe!?!

Who first choice? not watching at the min

Smith is a batsmen who bowls so maybe they dint think batting is strong enough

Doherty will debut according to the comm team, but if it's really green Siddle will play.

Left arm orthodox spinner from Tasmania. Pretty ordinary F/C record, but has had a decent start to the current season.

I'd have Siddle in my side every time

The commentators are clueless, apparently, katich and watson are on par with strauss and cook, strauss alone is better than both of those put together!

The aussie commentators are so annoying. Also where it says 'Australia a trails by 101' is that bad grammar or just me at this hour?

Katich is as good as anyone. Strauss and Katich are evenly matched.

Cook isn't too flash and Watson is a decent makeshift opener.

Comms got it pretty much correct

Watson is one of the best openers in the world right now if not the best.

Doherty will be playing because KP got out to another left arm spinner in this game so the Aussies will want to exploit this weakness and keep him out of form.

Although Doherty has got his chance to play in the 1st test, surely O'Keefe should be considered if Doherty doesn't shine if he gets his chance. SOK who plays at my club Manly, has done everything that he can to get the selectors attention. Cricket is a number's game and his speak volumes for his recent performances, he can contribute with all 3 aspects and in every format.

Steve Smith needs to bowl hundreds of overs for him to be considered as the leading spin option, he can no doubt hold his own with the bat but at the moment he doesnt hold the consistency for him to be thrown into the test arena. Bell attacked him and didn't let him settle, he didn't have a response to this and needs to learn his trade before being exposed at the highest level.

Steve Smith is shocking and if Doherty is playing just to get KP out then Aussie selectors are stupid.

Watson is not the best opener in the world by a country mile.

100% agree- atm I think Strauss is the best opener in the world! He is in a rich vein of form, just when England need it the most- England are looking very good, shaping up towards the first test, though it's a bit of a Shame KP isn't in Great form though- might think of dropping him for Morgan mid-way through the series if he doesn't perform...
