Salix Bats
« on: November 23, 2010, 05:11:14 AM »

Wanted to get more information on Salix bats. I did search but no luck. So I wanted to know how are Salix bats? Are they worth the price you pay for them? Also how are they pressed?

Cheers

One of the guys I play with occasionally has a Praestentia (sp) and it's a lovely bat. Suits him down to the ground. It's his second or third and he'd say they're worth the price.

Don't know about pressing though. I'd leave Andrew to worry about that as I am sure he knows what he is doing!

I am somewhat looking to buy Salix (once things have sorted out). I don't want to pay £250 and get a bat which will last me a season only. Hence, I was a bit worried about it.

It's a lovely bat and he has had it for more than one season. His is quite a heavy bat and picked up to its weight, rather than lighter as some bats do. It has a low middle which probably accounts for this.

If you are anywhere near kent i'd recommend coming down to their workshop. In my experience they are a pain to get hold of

Yes, and in the summer, getting hold of Andrew's softs and bags was a nightmare.

If I had to pick one bat maker, it would be Salix. Used them for many years, never been let down.

Since you have been using Salix for ages now do you know if they are made in England or  India? Imagine I am talking about Daemon Grade 1.

Do these Salix bats last really long or they are finished after a season use?

I've always been under the impression they are made in England. There are videos on their website and elsewhere that testify to this. The only times I've heard the made in india rumour, it was said by people who for whatever reason were unwilling to back up their claims.

They are very much made in England in Kent, and you can go down and watch them making them. They introduced a Kashmir junior bat this year, and I don't know where that is made.

I think their kashmir stuff is made in India as well asthe obvious stuff like softs/bags etc. To my knowledge every senior bat is handmade at their barn in kent

That would make sense as a couple of years ago my local small independent who i've known for years struggled to get salix in when wanted, when they started expanding as a major brand.
