Ashes 4th Test MCG
« on: December 21, 2010, 07:51:39 AM »

With the 4th test a few days away it will be interesting to see if England decide to rest Finn as has been rumoured and whether Bell will be moved up the order to fully utilise the form he has been in as we need him to go large! What do people think - Bresnan for Finn if he is knackered or will they go for the wild card that is Shahzad?

Interesting article by Nasser about how we need to bowl at Hussey, the run machine

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-1340340/Nasser-Hussain-How-England-better-Mike-Hussey.html

And one from Geoffrey about how to bat (and he could bat with a stick of roooobarb)

Move bell up but stick with Finn if he is fit

If you listen to Geoffrey his mother was better than bradman and sachin combined with all the shots she could play

humm - a pitch like this one and Bresnen is a certainty to play - it looks like my village pitch!!

Looks like a road, it's got less grass than a couple of wickets I played on last year. Interesting Nasser article, I'd fancy getting him out with my cheeky brand of long hops.

This may sound weird but has anyone else ever played on a wicket that's so wet it's played flat?

Yes - several times - some uncovered wickets and some wickets which have been rained on sometimes get the ball to whizz onto the bat - it can be really good to bat on. As an opener I have had this and you just have to ignore/trust the pitch which is sometimes difficult mentally when the pitch is bright green.

Looks pretty green compared to normal MCG pitches, which are straw like coloured. I was expecting the pitch to be more like the outfield!

Is this the tactic of creating green, grassy wickets to nullify Swanny?

Is anyone planning a party-through-the-night crickathon for the boxing day test?. I'd love to but feel that mum wont be quite so keen...

Shahzad for me, quicker than Bresnan, swings it more and is more aggressive. I know we collapsed last match but our batting is good enough to have Shahzad over Bresnan too.

Especially on that pitch!

Theres a video on cricinfo where boycott starts off by complimenting mike hussey and ends up raving about how good his own ashes record was, typical geoffrey!
