Difficult to predict what to do, the morning is the hardest time to bat so quick runs will be tough. The most likely turn of events is that we get bowled out after lunch. The afternoon and evening sessions are much easier batting sessions at the MCG so will be better for the aus. I'd like to see us win tomorrow but with a final ton from Rickie. Jeet's declare over night is what i'd love to see us do. It is the best chance of a quick win and very aggressive.

If Vaughan was captain or KP, than England would declare overnight, Strauss is slightly (sometimes very) conservative!

Just a quick poser, from a neutral, if the Oz openers put on a decent opening stand say 100-150, do you think Oz management should consider promoting Hussey to number 3?

It's seems unrealistic as I don't believe Hughes and Watson can bat in a responsible manner.

Whatever Oz do, I believe they will lose, but to give them an outside change of a draw, Hussey batting at 3 blunting the English bowlers(more so Swann) and protecting Punter and Clarke.

Whether or not HUghes and Watson can bat in a responsible manner, I doubt the Aussies will do that, because they have so much faith in Ponting, and rightly so, judging by what he has achieved in his career!

Whilst I agree, 25000 International runs don't come by fluke. He's got a broken digit and his mind isn't working correctly(incident with Aleem Dar), coming in down the order may reduce some pressure.

Nobody's doubting Pontings record or stats, just a case of moving him down the order. I personally think it would be a good move, Hussey to 3 would add some slight solidarity to the top order.
But I must say that this is one of the most ordinary Aussie sides there have been for a while. Steve Smith at 6, talk me through that one! The guy's a spinner who can bat a bit, not a front line batsman. Hughes is similar, dont know why hes there to be honest. Much better players in state cricket such as Jaques. Dreadful technique and patience for test cricket.
Bowling looks bleak as well apart from Siddle. Hilfenhaus has been highly ineffective as too Harris. Not good signs for any Aussie fans. Ive said it before that Ponting will go after this series and I can see this game being wrapped up today. Swann should get some wickets too...

Jaques is a class act but only averaging around 17 in first class cricket this season....

Truth is the scoon is dry and Smith if you believe the hype is a so called batsman who can bowl...

Can not wait for it to start i think it time for Australia cricket to do what they did when Border took over

Bit harsh on Harris GJ, he was their best bowler in Adelaide and was excellent in Perth.

There's a young guy in Sydney called Maddison I think he could be worth a punt at the last Test.

Sorry I didn't see your comment mate.

I think they should go with youth in the final Test.

Maddinson, Paine, Khawaja, White, Watson, McDonald, James Pattinson etc and groom a side for the future
