I would want to know what size the bat was and the exact measurements, as I think its just a clever photo.

Ok ill admit the bat is a Uzi style thing with Half inch shorter blade and longer handle... but its still big!

Guess the weight would make a great competition to win a bat - myabe using a different unit of measurement to give more scope for error

I have the actual measurement, James sent me some pics during the making process.  I will get Leo to upload it tomorrow.  It is nothing to do with clever photography, it is a mother of all beasts.  James didnt want to part with it when he was done making it. :)

Did James say what the cleft weighed before shaping?

Ok, I emailed James about 2 months ago asking him if he had any 2 tone wood, with narrow grains, and lightish, he got back to me the next day with a couple of pics saying he just came across a piece and it could well be what I was looking for.  He didnt specifiy the weight of the cleft, all he said was the cleft was at least 120g (4 oz) lighter than the lighter ones he would normally have.  I asked him about the durability of the cleft and he reckoned the cleft would last, despite having narrow grains, as the grain structure seemed to fit the bill so to speak.  He quoted me a price and the rest went from there.  I have a couple of pics from James that would illustrate the actual measurements of the bat, I just need someone who can upload them for me :)

Thanks Tom for putting the pics up. The bat is without concaving by the way. Or it would have an even bigger profile.  I just dont think light bats should go with concaving, it is too unforgiving I think.

These pics are taken before sanding, so I guess the edges will be around 33mm fully made up?

34-35mm, the sanding doesnt really take that much off a bat, well, at least not on this one anyway.
