My new Laver and Wood (Yes. Another one!!)
« on: December 29, 2010, 01:19:17 AM »

Hi Guys!

Just receied the pictures of my new Laver & Wood from James. This one has been made to a different profile (not the standard LW Special Profile). I send James pictures on my LW Harlequin and a GN Legend and Quantum and asked him to to pick specific features from each bat.

Honestly was not hoping it would turn out so good.

The cleft used by James is a special one - low density and from a lot reserved from a contracted NZ player for who he is making bats for the WC 2011 (peplow can vouch for this).

The bat is 2.9 all in. The willow looks lush.

Here are the pictures. Enjoy.

grain wise looks average for a laver but Laver's average is good.

It will perform i have no doubt of that

Sorry mate cannot tell the price I paid as I have a special price for my bats. To give you an idea. It is highter than the price I gave you for the other LW but lower than the advertised/website price.

I had picked 3 clefts. The otehr two clefts were with tighter grains (11+) but were 1515g and 1540g. Since I wanted a big profile, James gave the 1515g cleft some more drying and made bats with both the the clefts (the one pictured aboe and the 1515g clefts). He however felt that the bat came out better in feel and performance on this cleft and sent me this one.

Amnyway just by looking at the celft once cannot makeout the performance quotient, so I left it to James to take the call and I know he always gives honest opinions.

Yes, the concaving does not go all the way down till the toe, but given the way the Lavers tap up near the toe I know it will be as responsive as it should be and very strong.

The profile is mid to low and I hope I do not use the toe much to score my runs!! :)

Looks stunning! All these pictures of seemingly perfectly made bats are tempting me to go LW's way, but I can't: simply because of my age, I can't fork out as much on a bat as theirs cost... :(
How big are the edges, I think they're over 35mm?

Loads of the Lavers have concaving on them. Seems to be pretty common on the Carbo range.
