after much consideration, i think only Hussey can retain his place. They've got to make changes so id probably go for something like this...

1. K Minogue
2. R Harris (Rolf not Ryan)
3. Stingray (of Neighbours fame)
4. M Hussey
5. O Newton-John
6. M Gibson (when fit)
7. R Murdoch
8. E Goolagong
9. L Hewitt
10. Fosters Advert Guy # 1 (potent new ball combination with...)
11. Fosters Advert Guy # 2

Tim Minchin is pushing for a place, as is Harry Kewell

Surely Danni Minogue should be up for a bit of consideration?

I see that N imbruglia and J Donovan have also missed the cut. I believe the latter would be great in the slips given his habits...

If you were going for a hilarious, unrealistic team, Phil Hughes should be in lol!

If Mel Gibson is not fit, id have Jason Donovan in the side, to open the batting with K. Minogue to reform their excellent partnership (
) this would mean Rolf Harris going down to number 6, which would be a definite sign that his days in the side are numbered.

D. Minogue should be appointed physio with a clause in her contract that meant she had to wear whatever uniform the team manager felt suitable.

Some good suggestions here.......no Russell Crowe? would be handy up front with the gladiator sword and leather kit!

The test team MUST be as follows;

Watson - Has good technique, keeps getting out at 50 but is that a huge problem?
Payne - has very good technique and has ability against new ball, must play, leader
Kwaja - showed he's got talent and the head for test cricket
Ponting - he's not the 2005 model but still in the best 6 in the country, will perform again
Hussey - never write off Mr Cricket........ever!
Clarke - good on flat tracks, last chance mate at 6.....captain? no way
Haddin - best batting keeper in the world
Johnson - on thin ice but is a match winner when on
Hauritz - still the best spinner we got
Siddle - whole hearted tryer and goodish test bowler
Bollinger - not fit this summer but in the best 3 pace bowlers in the country

Notes;
Hughes - heavily backed by Langer but hasn't got sufficient technique for test cricket
Clarke - better perform @ 6, S Marsh, C Ferguson, C White all ready willing and able
Katich - hard nosed pro.....achillies injuries are serious at 35
Hilfenhaus - please watch video of Alderman and PITCH IT UP!
Smith - good lad, good all round cricketer, freak 1 day ability, not a test cricketer
Ponting & Hussey both 35 in time will be replaced by either of the 3 mentioned above
Beer - looks good (always!)
Harris - should put heat on the 3 pace bowlers selected and possibly replace them if fit
General Shout - to anyone that can anyone bowl fast?
McDonald - who ever suggested him - give yourself a wedgie!

Further;
Congrats to England, out played us all over the park, they look and play like an Australian team now and have capacity to be no.1 for a few years whilst Australia recover and assume their rightful position.

Cook - was a laughing stock last time, shows good toughness to do what he did
Pietersen - still a goose, 1 great score, the rest was lame
Bell - we knew he was a great lad, very pleased to see him realise his potential
Collingwood - well done on your career, certainly got the most from limited ability, test avg of 40 is excellent
Tremlette - if thats a Tremlette, how big exactly is a Tremel
Morgan - will lift the side to greater heights ala Gillchrist type innings'

whadayarecon?

Australia squad for first ODI against England on 16 January
M Clarke (captain), C White (vice-captain), D Bollinger, X Doherty, B Haddin, N Hauritz, D Hussey, M Hussey, M Johnson, B Lee, P Siddle, S Smith, S Tait, S Watson.

im happy to see the inclusion of Lee and Tait as i think it should be a more entertaining viewing against our openers although i still dont know why nannes isnt getting a shot he's rapid......

Callum Ferguson is entitled for a shout after overcoming his recent injuries. His record really does speak for himself, and scores run a ball at ODI level.

lovely - apart from Tait and a late burst from Lee I don't see much menace in that attack. Knowing the Aussie selectors, they'll pick their worst 11 anyway...

Good to see Hauritz back. Doherty is village.

Where the hell is Shaun Marsh? More logical to select Marsh over the aging David Hussey.

Slight problem is that he is a Kiwi rather than a convict!

You tell him that!  he's as Australian as Strauss, Trott, Pietersen and Morgan are English :)
