Why do you need more than two bats?
« on: December 29, 2010, 10:16:47 PM »

Following the discussion in a previous thread and the number of people in here with loads of bats (I've only about 10 right now), why do we need more than 2? A low-ish and mid-ish middle should suffice shouldn't they? What do you all think ? I'll go in to my reasons shortly!

Well i travel around the uk to play and if one breaks i need another there

iI also change bat depends on the wicket and the game All dayer,50 overs,20 overs

Depends on my form as well i use a more concaved bat when in form and when i not a more rounded bat...

if my opener doesnt show up and im asked to open i tend to use a lighter bat especially if the oppo have got someone a bit sharp......

apart from that i just like to have a back up i guess......

i and i took a gamble on a joker for 20 20 games next season but thats just for a bit of fun if it goes well i will prob start using it in all formats

i will add to this because i like bats and if i fail with one it no good and sometimes goes to the bottom of the pile

I don't need more than 2. Actually I don't need more than 1. However I choose to have more, because I can. Simple as really. No logic to it.

Because everyone loves a nice piece of willow and you cant say no to something which a batmaker has spent his sikills and craft on.

Sounds daft this but i would rather have more pairs of pads than bats

Match Bat 1   SS TON PLAIN (bought from asad ) 2lb 6oz big concaving idea for all forms of cricket
Match Bat 2   Laver Wood PB  use sparsly now due to damages shoulder
Match Bat 3   Chase Custom (batmakers) Just netting with it for now but it will come into it own 2011
Match Bat 4   Duncan Fearnley Magnum  (Big beast for 20/20 ) if down the order
Match Bat 5   Watson Classic (MY NEW Bat made last week will be up in next 2 weeks sent it for proffesional finish)

3 other net bats i never net with any match bat but my net bats are of similar shape and weight

I only ever take two bats with me to a game, both similar weights and similar profiles, one is my match bat which I will use regardless of the situation and the other is a spare bat that I know I get on with and is there as a back up in case my match bat goes during a game.

I wish I could just have 1 bat that I loved using and stuck with. Never been able to do it though. This forum is the main reason ;)

I have a new, as yet unused SSH Thruxton (2 8)purchased from Talisman, and a back up albion ax (2 '9) which was last year's bat. Would like a replacement for the albion as i don't rate it much, picks up heavy. Basically, would like two similar in quality and weight, one mainly to practice with or readymade replacement if thruxton breaks
