Gunn & Moore 909 D30 Pads- Half Review. PICS ADDED! :)
« on: December 31, 2010, 03:22:09 PM »

Hello!
I was given a pair of these for christmas, and they by far surpass anything I have tried/ have had before. Though not as light as my old Puma Atomic 3000s, they feel very solid, and are  comfortable on the legs, this will also improve with time as they become 'broken in'. They look awesome! I would quite happily put them up in a display case, but that would be pointless... They are light, but extremely solid- I believe the D30 idea is that the harder they get hit, they more solid the protection becomes at the point of impact? Anyhow, my brother punched them (? Yes, I did almost kill him after that) and I didn't feel a thing, also he said that it actually hurt...
First impressions are extremely favourable!
I have not had a proper chance to test these and their 'D30' credentials yet, although net sessions will be coming shortly, so I will update this mini-review then. I hope this helps someone out there!

If you need to upload pics of them, which would be good for us to see, there is a topic in the Pavilion which tells you How to Upload Pics...
Hope that's helpful, pads do sound nice though mate!

Thanks for the welcome and advice, will post pics in a little while :)
For me, the season isn't approaching fast enough! I really need to get bowling again- come up with a new delivery (for me at least :D). I love your Woodworm D30 Pads! They look awesome... trying to be innovative to the last I guess!

This shows the side profile of the pads- interesting top hat construction, looks safe at least!

Hope this helps! Sorry for the Pic quality! It's not the camera but photobucket or me I presume!
If any one wants other photos of the pads, just ask.

Happy New Year Folks!

Do you know what they weigh per pad?

Pic quality is good mate, they look very nice pads. How much did they set you back, out of interest?

I do, Arytek, for a free helmet? :D  Ha Ha, they weigh 850 to 900 grams, though they feel a fair chunk lighter- much like a bat's pick-up I suppose!

Johan, they were a christmas present but I believe they cost a few bob over £50, from Cricket Direct. They can be found cheaper elsewhere though!

I just wondered as d3o isnt a light material and having them in the pads doesnt really utilize the benefits of the material. the protection in pads should be good enough already without adding weight and cot to the pads in the form of d3o!

Good point, it could well turn out to be a gimmick, but I'm happy and not complaining, more protection is good enough for me! I would love to work for Gm and help design kit and stuff... Work experience? Ha ha :)
