The ground I play a lot of my cricket bat has a nice electronic scoreboard, and so I usually don't have to keep count. Though, counting is usually very good, if you can manage, as it's ridiculous how many runs the scorers miss, and they could be the difference in the game..also counting changes the way you play slightly, and makes you think about your innings, no? Eg. If you are in the 90s, unless you get a shocker of a ball, you aren 't gonna try and muller it for 6, but if you don't know you might do that and get out... :(

I think that you'll know when you're getting close, it's just that sort of "Oh, I've hit a boundary or twelve, must be close"... I count, but that's because my top score is 19. It's very easy for tailenders to count!

I counted my way to my first 50.... bit awkward when i raised my bat when I was actually on 49 lol
I dont think being in the 90s should change the way you have batted, because if you have smashed your way to 90 you are more likely to get out trying to nurdle it around in 1s and 2s. You just have to bat your own way. I dont mind getting out in the 90s it just means I know I can get there and will get 3 figures soon.

Yeah. If you're on 90 off 30 balls, then hit it for 4 or 6 lol, but if you've opened and worked you're way there, you don't really want to fall at the last hurdle, or be deprived of any runs...! I will be counting from next year for that exact reason, as I am sure, even with the scoreboards, that I haven't been given all my runs from last year :(

It depends, sometimes down the other end I'll try and work it out but normally if I start with a couple of boundaries it's easy then I don't bother carrying on counting.

Our 2's skip says knowing what you're on is easy (after a game he went 6, 4, 1. 6, 4, 1. etc etc and finished on 92*

I always liked the idea of counting but never ever remember once I get out to the middle.

i count the first ten or so normally, then when i feel close 50 i work out where i think i am from the scoreboard then take 15 off. That normally gives me about the right number. after that i dont count, just because i normally lose concentration between 60-90 and trying to count distracts me

I hate counting, I tried it for a bit, I think its puts pressure on you to score, and if you get stuck a number the pressure begins to build up, I dont think about my own score to much, obviously its the back of my mind, I try and just do what the team needs, and not waste my time wondering if I'm on 25 or 45

this is exactly what I do too.
