For me it's feel.

It depends what you're talking about. If it's your bat, then I'd say it's performance - if you are talking about 'Little Colesy' then I'd say feel.

Bats that feel good, but perform terribly are awful. I've had bats which felt a bit naff, but went like stink, and you soon got used to the feel and 'what good' feels like

It's gotta be performance, though if you get a bat that feels good too, then you've got lucky eg. You could have a bat that feels great, but is an absolute plank: that's not gonna get you too far: the critical factor is a balance between the 2 in my eyes..

I would have thought performance is based more on the cleft than the craftmanship. I've definitely had a top end bat which turned out to be a bit of a dud - pot luck I think

I ask this question as my best ever bat was a Purist II 909 because it felt really nice, pick-up was nice, handle etc. But the middle was the size of a 50p. Being strong enough to hit boundaries I didn't need a bat with immense power.

However I have used bats which have gone very well but I haven't liked them.

Has to be both for me, ive had bats which perform and bats which feel good but not many tick both boxes ? so in the terms of buying a bat and the fact we don't get a chance to test them correctly i would say  ? feel

I suppose it depends on the size of company you deal with. I guess we'd like to think that a smaller firm wouldn't send out any 'duds' to help their reputation grow.
