Disappointed but he has gone at the top (team wise anyway) and I think it is the right time.

That is really poetic if that was a huge motivating factor for his retirement. Maybe he will assist the young Ben Stokes (Dave's favourite ) at Durham when he goes back for first-class cricket next year!

Too sodding right Buzz. An outstanding example for EVERY cricketer, regardless of age, gender, or level. KP could learn a lot from someone like Colly, the hardest working cricketer I've been privileged to watch methinks. Not the greatest in terms of talent, but by God he he could play when he was in form. A clean hitter of the ball in the shorter form, a gritty nurdler with a darn good pull shot in the longer form, and a top bloke, if what the autobiographies of Hoggy, Tres and Freddy say are right. A decent leader as well. Deserves all the plaudits he never really got from the press, always seemed more of a behind-the-scenes man. I remember him digging us out of a hole in NZ a couple of times in the short form with punchy counter-attacking innings. One of my favourite cricketers.
