Related to another thread, I find that with the larger bat (ie LH+LB) my stance is a helluva lot better than with a SH.

it doesn't matter where or if you tap the bat - what matters is where you bend your back - it is important to bend from the hips not hunch your back - so you look like a bit a bit more upright version of this slightly exagerated position (with your eyes level):

Take it this is yourself Buzz

looks like Kook Ice Gear & possibly a SAF

the above pic is before the backlift - but the batsman is about 6ft2

If you are not sure how it should feel, stand up tall, tense your lower stomach muscles and bend forward from your hips. Bending/flexing your knees should make it more comfortable and allow you to move your feet better too.

not sure i have explained what I mean particularly well. if you aren't sure, give me a shout!

I know what you mean Buzz, I think the key is to be on the balls of your feet; whilst havng a slight bend in the knees to stop a hunch effect. Thanks to allwho contributed.

Ali Cook is a thoroughly good bloke - not sure about his batting, I still think he has the same weakness outside the off-stump from around the wicket he had when he was 12...! Not that I am disappointed that none of the Aussies bothered to test it out!

Neither of the bats in that pic are a SAF, the pic was taken about 2 years ago and the batsman in question stands slightly more upright at the crease now!

My stance has been totally changed by the coaches at middlsex this winter, being 15 and looking to try and get some 2 day cricket in next year, my technique has to be stronger than ever, because of this I now stand on middle, with my right eye in line with offstump, this means the best ball the bowler bowls, around forth stump, I can play it straight. I used to be more on my heals, and stand very tall, this meant I would open the face to the balls, and bring point right round to the keeper into play.

Colsey - I think it looks fine - the important thing is that you are comfortable and as Apple says above, your eyes are level and right eye over off stump, which yours is.
