Should I consider GN Oblivion LE?
« on: January 08, 2011, 11:55:36 AM »

Saw one at my local store and picked it and oh boy it felt great in my hand and alsmost fell for it so justt needed advice from my fellows that should I opt out for one?

(Keep in mind I currently have MB LE, CA 12K+, MB Bubber, Newbery, Salix)

The profile of that 5 Star was huge and it was certainly the best bat I have held.

If I buy then it will be from owzat where VAT will be knocked off for me and bat will be £220 + shipping

Your thoughts pkease?

Just a thought here?
As GN 5* bats are not made by the same person, then I would assume that there will be slightly different feel and balance from bat to bat?
And if that particular bat felt perfect, then I would tend to buy the perfect one?
If you end up buying a different one and the balance if slightly different then you may be disappointed? Just a thought!

If I pick up a bat and fall in love with it I find it hard not to part with some cash.....

Im surprised you've even had to put up a topic for it.... It sounds like u want that bat

I think the profile of the oblivions is spot on..,, big spine, big edges and beautiful pick up.... What more could you want?

I think the issue CD might have is the price in Canada. Can't see it being cheap over there.

My advice would be to buy the bat you have seen, as you cannot be sure the next one will be as suited to you.

Well actually my advice is to save your money use the Salix until it falls to bits and worry about this again next year.

Pete, but aren't the top end ones suppose to have better pickup/balance compare to lower ends one?

That is my favourite 2011 bat from the main brands.

You'd hope so for the extra money! ;)

Out of the big brands i would go with GN. Used a Nitro Pro Performance for 3 games last year, absolutely lovely bat. I was very tempted to go and buy a 2011 one but cannot justify that sorta money on a bat. Especially when i can get a custom made copy of it done by H4L at £150. whether it will be as good i am yet to find out!

Probably - but what I am saying is that if you can pick a bat up and it feels perfect, then it's normally better to buy that one than risk buying another that you haven't touched.
Just bare the risks in mind when buying.
Buying a GN isn't like buying a custom made bat where you can generally choose where you want the middle, etc!
All I am saying is that GN are made all over the place, especially when you start looking at 4* and 5* bats, which are more like Grade 2/3 willow. When you realise that balancing a bat is a real skill, then you will realise that not everyone may be as good at it! So you may end up with a bat that doesn't feel quite as well balanced as the first one you tried?
I am not saying that this will happen! I am simply pointing out the possibility! And saying that I woukld always prefer to purchase a bat I have actuallt felt and picked up given the choice?
I have an Ignite PP made for Strauss which feels pretty damn yummy! And the team captain loves GN. So do like them as a main brand!

I think this is good advice - I have seen the £150 GN bats in Romida and were very impressed with them though

Make sense Pete but the main thing is that I'm in Canada and over here these 4* and 5* just 20-40 odd pounds cheaper than top ones (LE, Players etc) so it kinda hurts paying extra than what the bat is worth, hence, I'm a bit reluctant buying from here an buying from UK as it is cheaper there even ebbing include the shipping.

Buzz, I agree! I have GN powerbow 3* and that bat goes like a gun (literally) but with Oblivion I want to get a big profile and high spine one (similar to Talisman). Well he is not around and not sure if he would sell so I would have bought his for the price he paid but I don't think he would sell it ?

Tried e-mailing him Uzair? I hear he's been responding to e-mails quite swiftly, despite his absence. :)
