« on: January 13, 2011, 09:16:51 AM »

Now available through Morrant. Nike Bats. Don't like the look of them myself, and I know that the ones I saw yesterday in the India v SA one dayer were SS Ton with Nike stickers.

Looks like the typical 'paying through the nose for a label' type of deal.

Do we know who makes these?

The problem is that like Adidas, Nike too will throw their weight on the Retailers pressurizing them to buy and stock their bats if they want to get their shoes, clothing and other stuff. So leaves the retailers with no choice but to pick a few bats and sell..... I see most of the Nike bats selling at discounted prices in September....

Will be really surprised to see them back in 2012.

But at least with the Adidas Range it looks like they have attempted to look at the current market trends/Prices and set up the range accordingly Nike Just seem to enter a Market By Slapping A Swoosh on what is inevitably an Asian made bat and telling everyone they are the pinnacle of the Cricket bat world and that people should pay a premium for the privilage.

The really sad thing is They will more than likely sell a few bats purely on this when the everyday Bat Buying Joe should be looking at the Home Grown Makers like some of the good guys on this forum and get better value for Money....

Now if you dont mind I need to climb down from this soap box.

IMO the profile and the labels look really poor. I don't like the shape at all. If anyone does buy one of those at £269 they want there heads checking. I can't see them
Being strong in the toe area either. Just a gimmick for Nike I feel in an attempt to follow Adidas into the Market. There success/failure will no doubt come down to other products like softs and clothing and a big name endorsement to drag the younger end in.

Given that most of the pro's using Nike kit are Indian based, i wonder how much of an impact they have had out there?

Ill throw my hat up and say these are actually good bats.

Having seen them at kingsgrove sports and having a few mates who bought thm i can assure they had terrific pick up in a traditional style shape. They definetly didnt walk out the door and I dont think they ever will as people see through them for what they do, being just a label. But having hit these with a mallet I can assure you, at least the batch in sydney  were as good as any branded bats in that price range.

That is the worst attempt at stickering a bat I've ever seen. Has he not heard of taking the actual batmakers stickers off?! Though incidentally, supposing it was GM, why do they not send the bat to him plain? Anyone know the answer?
