Looking for suggestions to repair this bat
« on: January 17, 2011, 04:02:46 PM »

I broke this bat over the weekend because the ball used by the other team was cheap and too hard.
For now I have just put fiber tape around it.

scuff sheet could hold it together for a season with some tape

Easily fixable remove scuff sheet, inject PVA wood glue into cracks and clamp bat blade tightly. After a couple of days clamped sand bat down till its flush then reapply scuff sheet and maybe some fibreglass tape to finish of on the edges. Should play just fine.

String trick wouldn't be much use as the crack appears to be fairly near the middle!

Get some sort of string dip in PVA wrap around breakage tightly and in theory if correct string is used it will contract when it dries and hold the breakage shut tightly.

Can also use string to clamp the break once its been glued and drive wedges under the string to hold the break really tight until it dries.
