CRK Silverback
« on: January 19, 2011, 12:46:17 PM »

This is my second attempt at making a bat and has been made for a team mate at my my club, he is a number 5 batsman (comes in after me, usually to pick up the pieces  :( ).

He is an aggresive batsman and bats outside leg stump, steps into line. His previous bat was a 2.11lb GN Nitro but split in the toe at the end of the season and I somehow managed to persuade him to buy a bat from me!

Specs are:

Grade - G1
Weight - 2.11lb
Edges - 29mm (at widest point)
Middle - Low to middle (wanted a long middle similar to the Nitro)
Pickup - 7/10 (bit bottom heavy due to the low middle)
Handle - Thin, round handle
Grips - 1 combi
Appearance - 12 dead straight grains, 2 heartwood on outside edge, couple of pin-knots.

Drop the bat off to him last night and he seemed very happy, didn't actually believe I made it! haha

Feedback would be much appreciated

Dan

I think that looks great - love the shape and you have finished it off well.

You got hold of a pretty good cleft there too.

Finished to a rare standard that. The sheen on the 3/4 angle pic is something very few makers bother with achieving. Indeed I can only think of one maker who I know will get them to that stage.

Its a home made buffing compound used with a loose leaf buffing wheel then a lot of elbow grease using a lint free cloth :)

That's an absolute beauty. How much do you charge for them? I'm sure you could get a few orders off here!
