RS Recorder Thigh Pad
« on: January 19, 2011, 07:53:09 PM »

At the request of the resident personal protection specialist, here's some photos of my new Robinson Sports, RS Recorder thigh pad.

It's replacing the tired old Gray Nicolls (youth size!) thigh pad shown for comparison purposes.

Ordered from Quantum Cricket on Sunday and it was delivered on Tuesday with receipt and business card.  Great service.  First impression was very good....lightweight but sturdy.  The top to bottom dimension (max) is 400mm.  Thickness is 25mm max and 15mm min.  Straps are 60mm wide and plenty long enough to go around my ample frame!   Towelling backing feels luxurious, straps are comfortable and the curving is just about right for me. Comes in a handy reusable bag too, very useful for those that like to look after their kit!     A very welcome addition to my 2011 kitbag thanks to Buzz's thigh pad post!

Nice work - I think it looks pretty good. Hope it offers the requisite protection!

"Test match level protection in the ultimate high end thigh pad. Pre-curved for a comfortable fit against the contours of your thigh. Three layers of protection; soft foam towel backed for comfort against your leg, fibre-tec shell for impact resistance, high density plastazote as the top layer to deaden the impact, covered in a durable PU facing. Elasticated velcro fastening for security and comfort, discreetly trimmed to sit unobtrusively underneath your clothing."  From Quantum Cricket?Robinson product description.

http://www.quantumcricket.com/

Then click on the Robinson tab at the top of the left hand menu list, scroll down to the thigh pad on 4th row.

Hope that helps.

Correct...I think the actual postage cost on the parcel was 2.75, so no rip-off postage cost either.

hmm might invest. I've got those kookaburra short things with the padding you slide in. Never wore the inside thigh bit as it was too small imo and i kept getting hit so might get seperate inside and outside guards. Tried strippers on the other day and the didnt feel 'right'...

I don't think you can go far wrong at £17 delivered.  I think it's great value for the level of protection and comfort it offers.  I'm not a fan of batting shorts myself either and I believe this type of thigh pad offers protection over a greater area than the thigh pad in the shorts, but each to their own, as they say!

I can't see one either and Google doesn't throw anything out.  Why not give Quantum Cricket a call?  Their email address and phone number is on the website.
