Postage problems with H4L bat
« on: February 01, 2011, 11:11:20 AM »

Ok guys, i dont know if this is in the right section but, well when it arrives it will be part of my kit soo.. :D Anyway about 3 weeks ago i orderd a bat from Hell4leather. I live in Western Australia by the way and it still hasnt come. The bat was sent on the 13th of January. I got the Tracking number from them and it is in Australia but then i put the tracking number into the postal companys site here (Australia Post) and there is no infomation on it. Whats up with that? Im wondering if any of you guys have had this problem before? Could it be held up in customs? And oppions would be much appreciated!

Hello, welcome to the forum.

First off let's establish some facts. Have you contacted H4L about the problem yet? My experience of H4L is they will do anything to help the customer, so from your post, I doubt you have. If you have not, it should be your priority to do so. Whilst we can offer opinions etc, we cannot actively help you with your specific problem. H4L may be able to interrogate their courier to see if any information is available from their end.

The likelyhood is the bat is sat waiting in a warehouse or customs and will eventually arrive. Tracking systems are notoriously poor at what they are supposed to do, I speak from experience having had several parcels arrived before they appear on the courier's tracking system.

I realise this isn't much help, but we can't do a great deal.

Welcome to the forum mate

I have been dealing with Matt the last couple of weeks over a bat and he's a great bloke, constantly in contact (even when I wasn't for a couple of days etc) so I am sure everything is OK. Give him a shout mate, he's always about anyway

What have you ordered out of interest?

I have contacted them several times! By no means am i having a go at Hell4leather. There customer servise is outstanding! I was more questioning the mail servise mainly. How long would be expected for a bat to travel that distance?

From my experience of shipping to and receiving from other countries, the actually transit from one country to another doesn't take long at all, depending in the shipping service chosen. Where the delays almost always occur is when they arrive in the destination country and they are assessed by customs. It is possible you will receive notification that an import tax has been levied on the bat and you will have to pay this to have it released to you.

What has H4l said to you?

Well they said they would try and get in contact with the postal servise and they also gave me the tracking number as mentioned before. Roughly how much would this import tax cost?

Depends entirely on the value the item was declared at by the sender and from that, how much the importy duty rates are in your country.

Looking back at your first post, it is only 2 1/2 weeks since it was sent. I wouldnt be panicking too much just yet.

I think there was a H4L shipped to Canada a while back and was there in 4 days, so I imagine Jon to be spot on with what he's saying about customs. Tom @ Ayrtek has hoodies and bags at customs for weeks.

Hey mate
I also live in WA and have bought 3 or 4 bats from the uk now.
The time that it takes for the item to be delivered can vary and i can assure you the bat will be stuck in customs.
I once had a bat that took 3 weeks to arrive and for about 2 of the weeks it was said to have landed in Perth already, whilst i once bought a bat that took around 5-7 days.
So dont stress as the bat will arrive when it does and from what i have seen on the forum about H4L it will be a cracker.

Another thing that just came to mind is due to the terrible weather problems Australia has had recently, it could be possible there is a backlog of items waiting to be delivered. Just a thought, could be wrong.

The other poster is right about customs. There is no logic to it, sometimes things fly through, other times they can be held for weeks for no clear reason. It seems to be completely random whether your item gets charged or not. I've had to pay a great deal of duty on some things, and not a penny on others.

I doubt it would be the weather as most of the problems have been in my state of QLD and down the east coast through NSW and VIC. With WA being on the west coast I doubt that is it, but I could be wrong

Could the tracking number be the UK side? If it was sent via Royal Mail then i dont think their tracking number is transferred to the company delivering in Aus. If it was via a courier like DHL then you should be able to use it.

yes spot on. that was my bat. and it really was record time + Matt was great to deal with throughout. I agree with Jon regarding customs probably being a hold up.
