Newbery Navarone
« on: February 08, 2011, 10:07:20 AM »

Won this on eBay over the weekend - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270699010966&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1156

Arrived this morning and pretty impressed with it. I know eBay can be a mine field but seems i did well this time. Currently awaiting courier to pick it up and and take it down to Newbery for a refurb and new stickers.

Here are some before pics (apologies for quality, just had my phone to take them with), once i get the bat back from Newbery i will post the after pics as well.

I hadn't realised what a nice, fairly traditional profile those had.

Good find.

Yeah i was pretty pleased too. Seems to be quite a few Newbery bats that go on eBay. Recently been out bid on a few, i had a max bid of £60 put on with about 5 days to go thinking it would never really win

Did you find the 'spike marks' that were referred to Ian? ;) - I'm guessing he meant general being knocked around in the bag with Spikes in it as well...? Still, a good find, and I am sure when it comes back from a Refurb it will look good as new and hope it scores loads of runs for you!

It had a few dinks on the back of the bat, nothing major though, like you say just a few dinks from spikes in the bag etc. Should come out with a refurb like you say. They have the bat now so should have it back in a week with any luck
