I don't think it's nation-related about walking!!
There are very few batsmen who walk these days!!! Gilly used to walk but I don't think anyone else stands out as being that honest!
Pretty sure Kallis and Amla walk, Sachin probably does as well. Seem to remember in Trescothick's autobiography that he felt that you get enough bad decisions go against you that you should take the smooth with the rough, and if the ump doesn't give you out then you're not out, essentially!

That's the thing if you walk you can feel a little aggrieved at a bad decision but if you don't walk don't moan when you get a bad decision which is what atherton used to say

It's well known Aussie batsmen are told not to walk as most batsmen don't these days

Well I'm an Aussie and I have never ever been told not to walk. Some of the older players say they have had enough bad decisions so they leave to the umpire. But personally, I naturally start to walk so I just keep walking and I have been called back twice but I kept walking.

Just going by an interview years ago with ponting where he said we are taught not to walk in Australia and that gilly was the only one who did

Ponting's a cock if you ask me.

He's all ways going on about opposition players should walk when they edge it or the the fielders word on catches, yet you seldom see him walking when he edges it. Gamesmanship from Ponting

Its not that he wants them to walk when edging it, he wants the batsmen to walk if the fielder says that they have caught it. Two different things there.

I personally dont like Ponting, but walking when the fielder says they have caught it, I agree with.

In this case fielder and keeper was also sure he had edged it.

When Pakistani players reviewed the decision it means they were confident and sure he had edged it.

Don't find two different things here.

That's fair enough but do you seriously think that Pontin would walk if an opposition fielder said that he caught him out, and there was doubt?

Doubt it Pete, Ponting wants it all his own way....

This is the problem with the DRS, you dont need half the ball to hit the stumps, you only need it to clip the stumps and the bails will come off. Imo, if the ball is hitting at all, then its out as his pads got in the way of the ball hitting the stumps. It basically a free ticket

Agree to an extent, they need to alter it a bit i think, if over half the ball is hitting then it shouldnt stay with the onfield call.
