Who would you say is the most unlucky players in the world. It can be that they only play County, Sheffield Shield etc, when they should easily be playing international.
I'm going to say Brad Hodge from Victoria/Australia.
- Averages 54 in tests with a last innings of 204 (He was dropped after his 204 and to this day I have nod Idea why he was dropped).
- Was told by Cricket Australia that he needed to have 1000+ Sheffield Shield summers, he has done this numerous times and still no call up.
- Has easily been the bet one day batsmen in the Australian domestic comp, most recently he was left out of Australia's World Cup squad even though he has scored 498 runs from 9 innings with 3 Hundreds with a high score of 140* and 1 fifty, at an average of 71.14. Almost 100 runs better than the next bloke and easily the best average.
I have no idea why Cricket Australia refuses to pick him as he has clearly been the best Shield batsmen for the last 4-5 years. He is by far the best one day domestic player and has been for 5-6 years including this year, and for some messed up unknown reason, he never bloody get's picked. No wonder we have been going crap in test matches when we just call in players then drop them, Hodge would have easily been able to save alot of trouble as he would have had the number 4 position locked in.
I bring this up as I don't know why Callum Ferguson is back in the team, one innings of 40 and now he is good enough. I mean c'mon, Hodge is by far and away the most talented and unluckiest person in international cricket today as he has proven that he is good enough, but bloody Cricket Australia live in a land where you don't pick the best, but instead pick a line of average players that you think will improve. Time to pick players who are proven and in form and stop caring about reputation as it only ends up hurting the team.
Had my rant, now let me know what you guys think on who you think the unluckiest player in the world is.
