Your Club's Best Player's Kit
« on: February 20, 2011, 08:56:51 PM »

Guys,
I have been wondering recently about how much kit people seem to buy in the search of the Holy Grail, pro bats or high spec unicorn softs...
The best bat in my club has had the same pads and gloves (mid range Hunts) for 10+ years and a knackered Hunts County Mettle 5*. Out of interest, does the best player at your club keep up with the Joneses and have new kit every season, or are they still getting life out of their SS jumbos and keeping the insulation tape people in business?

I use a SAF bat and Kookaburra softs... ;)

Actually there are a lot of Choice bats at our club which are used by the first team - the former skipper uses a Newbery (imagine that)

The first cricket box was used in 1874.  The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.

Ive seen loads of Choice bats about, and I like the people there, but not too sure on their bats, how do you find them?

Our top bat, uses a 6 year + old gm and old gm pads and gloves, his thighpad is a pillow with string stiched onto it, The only new piece of kit ive seen him own is a new spair of spikes every 2 or 3 seasons, he doesnt net, or train or anything and he is always the highest run scorer and most consistent bat every season. He must be nearly pushing 50 now also.........

We haven't got any good bats at our club haha - i joke (i think)

Ummm i think probably the two best bats at my club are a Kookaburra Biggest Kahuna and surprisingly Kookaburra ICE 250 its not exceptional but for its supposed grade it is really good
