Offset Edges

What exactly does "offset edges" mean? Does it always mean the handle is offset, as in the Gray Nicolls The Edge, (which frankly looks weird) or would it usually mean the handle in the usual place but the spine offset slightly. Would the edges be the same thickness or different thicknesses.....or is this what custom bat making is all about?

The first cricket box was used in 1874. The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.
