Anyone heard of Torpedo bats?
« on: February 22, 2011, 08:34:19 AM »

Just discussing a bat with a guy on ebay and he is trying to flog me a "Torpedo" bat which, apparently is an independent bat maker in rotherham

Has anyone heard of them?

Apparently "they provide bats locally and alot for the barnsley cc team which is full of ex pros, (simon widdup, richard wilkinson to name a couple)"
I haven't heard of either of the "pros"

Yes I have heard of them.

They were used by quite a few players in our league about 5-6 years ago.

A team mate had one. Seemed quite shapeless, bottom heavy. Reminded me of an old SS I had. They had an Asian style profile, with plenty of concaving.

Theyre based in Bradford I think and are quite big in Yorkshire.

Richard Wilkinson is a former Yorkshire off spinner and coach of the youth u17 side in Yorkshire. He used to be my coach until I think he was sacked.

I saw a couple of these bats when playing against Yorkshire Academy at Streethouse a few yearts ago.  One of the older teens that was play had a gun.  It look a really nice bat.   Very similar to the Fusion bats being produce at the same time.

I know the guy very well, his bats are either made by BAS or MB. some are made in UK as well
