Does anybody else think he has an awful batting technique? Yer he can hit the ball but as for technique it leaves a lot to be desired....
This is only my opinion tho
-
awful to the text book but it works like shiv and sewag and gayle
-
Yep very true mate. Like I said that's my opinion and I'm sure many will disagree
-
There's plenty of guys who have perfect techniques but they lack mental strength.
Dhoni is the opposite
-
Dhoni is a class act in one day cricket there is no doubt about it,,
Maybe not the best keeper but as a thinking batsman he has a lot.
top nock today outstanding

Are you still of the opinion that he should be replaced as captain as you stated a couple of weeks ago?
-
Careful Jon he even likes Harbijan now
-
I think we can become a bit technique obsessed in this country sometimes. After all it is not how, but how many!
-
I was sitting next to someone I know very well when watching this. He's quite old now, but used to be a gun opener at my club and was furious with Dhoni's technique. It's unorthodox, but my it gets the job done.
Agree with this though:

No better time for Dhoni to hand over the reigns. 2 time WC winning captain(1xT20 & 1x50over). His legacy is secure.

Wouldn't go that far Dave
-
who for captain now
Gambhir??
-
Sreesanth.

Gambhir is a good call, as he's captain of Delhi in the Ranji trophy. If MSD wants to stay on, then Kolhi should be groomed as next captain.
Sreesanth.
Oh God...
-
Sreesanth would have been entertainng
-
How about making Sreesanth and Harbhajan joint captains?
-
The thing I like about Dhoni is that he has brains too. Is streetwise and a cool customer. Cricket is played between the ears too.

Wouldn't take home to much of their pay packets...

Dhoni is the calmest person I have ever seen on a cricket field. Absolutely nothing fazes him. I believe that his calm head really has a great impact on the dressing room and I doubt that the Indian team has any internal conflicts etc.
-
Just because it doesn't look good doesnt mean its bad technique, Dhoni watches the ball very closely and plays very late which is all that is required. Just has the unique ability to generate his power via the wrist which is unorthodox but extremely effective.
-
Dhonis bat sounded fantastic when he was smashing the ball!
-
The reason Dhoni's technique looks odd as he has massive balls of steel and therefore can't play like normal people.

you mean he has to play around his balls, that must be a hinderance ...... also does that mean he doesnt have to wear a box?
-
What about his weird swat technique? When the ball is down leg and he could sweep it, he decides to try and smash it directly behind him. For some reason, that really annoyed me, ahah.

Sachin started that mate.

thats also to do with his massive balls
-
I like Sachnin though so it doesnt annoy me when he does it, ahah :D

nothing wrong with smacking the ball where there are no fielders. Isn't that the art of batting?
canners - he has a custom made pro box to wearhouse his giant rocks.

Too right Buzz! I'm not the biggest fan of Dhoni, but he certainly has the unique ability to beat the fielder from a large percentage of his scoring shots.

An oversized Shockdocter + that has been dried an extra 2% that sounds like a gunshot when hit

Best thing I have ever heard on here.
-
I've never seen a thigh pad like Dhoni's in the sixth photo down on here. It seems to have three bottom straps. It also seems much bigger.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any knowledge about it?

I suspect us has something to do with his oversized, extra dried shockdocktor, custom made, extra large box.
failing that me might be picky about how his thigh pad sits (doesn't make him a bat person) so has the extra straps sewn on.

Him too! I guess it's a burden we both have to bear!!
