Could go all the way, although with 8 wickets left I would put KKR as the favourites...

Kallis goes for 54, game still very much open.

EDIT: Also why on the player stats are they counting the number of 30's not the number of 50's the player has scored?

last year there was a youtube channel for it, but had a quick look for it and there isn't one for 2011 yet (well not that i found anyway).

Mumbai should be pissed if they don't win the IPL this year. By far the best squad.

Extra firepower in the middle order with Rohit, Symonds and Franklin. And a proper keeper in Jacobs.

Mumbai to win, although I think almost all the teams have enough good players to beat any other team on any given day especcially when you consider the unpredictable nature of Twenty20. Hopefully india winning the world cup will make the IPL even better this year.

Enjoying watching Johan Botha run between the wickets, he runs the first very hard and has probably gained a good couple of runs for the RR because of this. I don't like seeing people just trundling to the other end for an easy 1 rather than pushing the first hard, putting the fielder under pressure and maybe gaining an extra 1. This also gives the other runner with him push hard and also know they can trust his running.

hard one that i would go with gilly just but overall with dhoni capatancy i would say either

there batting is so different it hard to judge

As a finisher in one day cricket few can match Dhoni

As a opener few can match Gilly
Title: Re: IPL on ITV4
Post by: mattw on April 13, 2011, 11:03:06 AM
It's a tough one to be fair, I would choose Gilly as I believe in an all-time world XI I believe he would add more to a team with this exploits opening the innings.
Title: Re: IPL on ITV4
Post by: alexrickyponting on April 13, 2011, 11:03:43 AM
Personally I'd go with gilly, dhoni's captaincy is very good but the question is merely whos better keeper-batsman. I think gilly is more likely to take the game away especially in tests imo
Title: Re: IPL on ITV4
Post by: procricket on April 13, 2011, 11:06:35 AM
imagine them both in the same side in one dayers the perfect opener and perfect finisher 2 very good cricketers indeed

Gilly changed the way test are played for sure and agree in tests changed the way in a hour or two
Title: Re: IPL on ITV4
Post by: Jeet on April 13, 2011, 11:07:45 AM
When Dhoni first came on to the world stage, he was so destructive and was more dangerous than Gilly. These days Dhoni is far more sedate.

Dhoni would get into a World XI with his batting alone.

one day side yes

test side no

The thing with Gilly like Warne changed the way people played cricket.

Dhoni is quality no doubt at what he does and has been disruptive but Gilly did change many things and was a innovator

I'm talking about ODI team not Test cricket.

Dhoni averages 49 and has a S/R of 90, not many better around in the history of the game
Title: Re: IPL on ITV4
Post by: langer17 on April 13, 2011, 11:27:02 AM
Jeet mate, give it a break.

Gilly opened the batting and dominated, whereas Dhoni comes in 4,5,6,7 and has a slog to get his 20-40 not out, which makes his average better. When you open in a ODI, it is very hard to bat through an innings.

I'm guessing you where dropped on your head when you where born. I didn't say Dhoni was the better opener. In a world XI both would play. Dhoni at 7 and Gilly at 1. Its not rocket science.

So cos Dhoni has good players infront of him he can slog 20 not out? Is that the same for Hussey aswell? Cos Ponting, Watson, Clarke normally set a platform

Mate, I'm just being realistic, but I assume that you are Indian so you wont listen to reason.

You were saying that Dhoni was the better option out of him and Gilchrist, which is actually a pretty funny joke. Actually it's the oppostie with Hussey, he often comes in and rescues his team so get a clue. There is no way in hell that Dhoni would get into a world XI team as a batsmen, not a chance mate!

How many times will the commentators and people in the studios mention that Malinga practices his yorkers by bowling at trainers placed where the batsmen feet should be?

Warne is completely unfit and filthy birds like him.

 >:( You didn't know AB could keep?! Commentators always used to go on about how he would take the gloves for SA when Boucher retires.

Gayle's highest score is 333.
It's just how Murali has 800 on his shirt, as he took 800 test wickets.

They are part of a 'green' initiative so they changed their kit as a one off.

Organising a whole bunch of new uniforms for a one off (and all the costs associated) is pretty ridiculous in itself really!

It's similar to that ruddy concert a few years ago to promote green thinking, but the carbon footprint from it was enormous!

I heard Mallya jr saying they had reduced their emissions by 1500 tons. Knowing the scale of work the Mallya steel empire is responsible for, I think that would be like you or I saying we had reduced our emissions by not farting as much, just as we jump in our hum vees and drive to Scotland :D

just seen one of the best boundary catches in the IPL. Pollard caught on the boundary, fielder leaning over the line and takes it one handed infront of the dugout.
Special catch!!
