Nets started and straight away I get one at the top of the bat. Shoulder cracked and handle knocked out! (You can see it sticking out at the splice in the first image)
Anyone know/can recommend a good bat repair service?
Sorry for the rotated images, no idea why they've uploaded like they have...

Ooooh! Nasty break there pal!
-
Bat Repairs who advertise on here do a good job at a decent price.
-
It's a pain but it shouldn't be too tricky (or expensive) to repair. Bat Repairs as mentioned above do a good job. Have you spoken to the seller about it? (I assume you bought it new?) :)
-
I tried emailing via the address I used to buy it but no reply. Only used it the second half of last season! Just fancy getting a top notch repair by someone who comes recommended.
(As I'm typing this there's a huge banner with batrepairs.com on it! Will have a look into that)
-
these talisman bats do seem to break frequently. Seem to remember a couple of other people having handle problems on the forum or do I have a selective memory?
-
My handle went, but don't think mine was one of the proper talisman's as in a mike special. Think mine was an AS
-
How can a Talisman bat be an AS?
Arent they all TK made G1 best of the best?
-
Most are but some are just good sticks that Mike sourced through his contacts and stickered up for customers if they wanted...

I have not seen this being mentioned when Talisman bats were resold on the forum. Maybe other members were more aware than I was.

Maybe some just didn't know.... It wouldn't be the first time.
-
It's not something, to my knowledge, that has ever been hidden. Like I said, most (90%+) bats with stickers are TK made but some are sourced elsewhere and Mike applied some stickers if the buyer asked him to. Most of the time he would sell them blank though...

You're saying 905 of bats we see are TK made?wow, that surprises me, must be a busy man not to mention loaded
-
No, I'm saying 90%+ of Talisman bats with stickers on are TK made....
-
The proper TK Talisman bats are £200 if I remember correctly, mine was only £100 and only has the 'Storm' rather than 'Perfect Storm' stickers because of this
-
Time to check your bats as that makes sense. I wasnt aware about the Perfect Storm and regular Storm
-
I've got a feeling that some of the later Perfect Storms weren't TK either

I have 3 brand new Talisman's that were payment in kind for some work I undertook for Mr B. 2 Perfect Storms and 1 Storm. All 3 are TK manufactured bats.

Despite all the controversy, I'd chuffin love a Talisman!

Mine went in exactly the same place.
Have just emailed him to see if he has any more news on my bat, as he said he would get it a couple weeks ago. Even if it's not repaired I just want it back so I can get it sorted and using it

FFS! I think the hero-worshipping of this guy needs to come to a conclusion!
A known re-stickerer with a penchant for selling bats that regularly break in the handle, that turn up six months and 200 emails after you want it!
Makes a £200 G3 Amplus with knots and storm damage look a whole lot more attractive ;)
-
To be fair, I'd hardly say it is 'Hero Worshiping'
I've wanted a bat since I picked up an oppositions bat at drinks about 2 years ago.
Before I had joined the forum.
All bats break at some stage, these just get more bad publicity than others.
-
Probably half the 'custom brands' around at the moment are restickering TK made bats........hardly anything naughty....
And as a footnote and to go alongside what Bruce has just said I've had a few bats that have broken at the handle, one very recently and NONE of them were Talismans..............
-
Dan is right,well said mate.

I meant the restickering of worse grade bats to make them look good, but I agree...Tbh what you've said will kill a lot of batmakers (well, brands) if it becomes general knowledge so I feel a bit snide by talking about it.
Anyway, who offers an MMi3 for £750 (I think it went for 275 in the end lol). If that doesn't scream "THIS GUY IS ABOUT AS TRUSTWORTHY AS HARRY REDKNAPP" then I don't know what does!
-
I personally think it's far more snide for brands to give the impression they are making everything from start to finish when they're not. Obviously in most cases it's contractual and in a one on one conversation nothing is hidden but it's not really fair on the guys who really are 'custom batmakers' who, as a result, find it difficult to compete on price.
Anyway, that said, I have yet to use a bad TK made bat whatever the stickers on it and I have had plenty of bats break on me from a variety of manufacturers.

For all his faults it's not often I've seen a bat from Mike that's been anything less than top class for the money.
-
Every bat I have had from Mike have been top quality and wouldnt slate him at all, But I have never had the issue of waiting for months, I always received my item within a week or so but communication was always high, I had Mike dropy bats off to me at home which is about a 2 hour drive for him.
-
can we keep this on topic as there have been many issues with Mike -some resolved and some not - there have been many discussions on this elsewhere.
In the case of this bat - it is bust - I will pm you with a suggested approach about dealing with this bat... looks a nasty break.

My thoughts exactly, mike is a very likeable chap I was in no way having a dig at him just reminded me of my bat that broke in the handle?
-
It is indeed unfortunate that the bat has broken in such way,
How much use has it had out of interest?
-
Recently?
Last summer.
Pics would be nice ;)
I'll take some photos when i get home from work this evening.
-
I look forward to them

Does your missus know how much you like ogling at wood?! :)

Does your missus know how much you like ogling at wood?! :)
To be honest, Canners ogles wood so his missus has been known to kiss his wood....but to be fair, ONLY his wood!! I did offer when I met her that I have my wood which was equal (and generous) proportion to Canners wood, and actually cosmetically better looking...but she was faithful to Canners wood! Respect!!
-
Any blemishes on your wood Pete? That might just have deterred her!
-
Poor Canners' girlfriend also got propositioned by the Stig, she was having none of that either.
-

My wood was blemish-free and totally buffed to perfection!
But she is obviously a one-wood woman!
-
behave! children read this! ;)

Only half a season and 2 winter nets! And to answer a few of the other Qs I never had a problem with Mike. Had the bat within a week of payment and it goes like a gun, hence why I'm very gutted about the break!
-
Is the shoulder crack completely separate from the cracks through the splice?
-
Hahaha I'm afraid she only likes low density pro willow with a stiff handle boys.....
I go out for a couple of hours and come back to this lol
HK the gf knows I am obsessed by cricket bats and she's ok with it..... Now
-

not being funny but if you didnt try and make a proposition for canners girlfriend i think you bat for the wrong team!
-

There aren't any cracks through the splice! The shoulder crack is separate and the handle is loose. The stickers have gone and the line that seems to run through the splice is just some sticky residue from the tape holding the grip in place :)
-

Haha thanks simmy
Did I mention the gf kisses every blank bat giving it her seal of approval ;)
Pics can be supplied if necessary :)
-
Have you tried mike on his personal email as he hasn't posted for a while on here? If you haven't then I can try and help you.
If the crack has not gone through the splice then it may be repairable. He was very helpful with mine and fixed mine without charge even though it was past the years warranty. Mine was a bit different though as the crack went through the splice and so is pretty much (No Swearing Please) now!

I think he has been banned from the forum.
-
I think he has been banned from the forum.
Nope - he was stripped of his admin and advertising priviledges, and also had his post count set to 0 to stop him selling in the For Sale section, but otherwise he is still free to post on here

Agree with this!! Canners' Mrs is through the roof!!! Bang tidy!!
(Mike please don't hate me xxxxx)

Mike probably would offer to repair is for free. This is what he did for mine, he has had it since August though and says next week I will have it. As were so close t the season I'd suggest paying someone to get it fixed
