With our roving correspondents providing some detailed and in depth coverage, we are able to bring yuo a few sneak peeks of kit.
M&H have come up with a Master Lite for the 7 stone weaklings amongst us...

What weight do these start at Tim? :)
-
2lb 10oz from what we've been told!
-
And Boom Boom's new Arrogance, from 2lb 7oz we are told...

Oooh, lovely news! From what I have seen (which is limited obviously) this bat and the Chase FLC looked to be winning so far...love the FLC stickers....the gloves are nice too...
-
And this is Slazenger's warm up bat, the V600, weighing in at 4lb or so, with a reasonable pick up for its weight... Wonder where they got that idea from?
It's a beast and clever marketing of a doublewood Laminate...
-
Wow. That's big wood!
-
Someone call Collis King!
-
Anything new on the Wheelie bag front... :D
-
New Newbery bag, it's rather out there
-
I saw that earlier Tom on your twitter I was shocked to say the least
-

Idea came from Collingwood, who has used it since 2006. And they brought it to market for 2013
-
did Collingwood use it out in the middle or purely for practice?
-
did Collingwood use it out in the middle or purely for practise?
Purely in the nets.
-
Practice to improve bat speed
-
Tom what impressed you the most at today's spectacle?
-
Cadbury Newberys are back which has to be up there!
-
that's what caught my eye in all the photo's i have seen
-
I am a bit of a fan of the SS gloves...I think we may be seeing them in multiple forms next year!!

I agree, very nice offerings from the SS boys, although i dont like their TON branding

No other changes in the bats, mate, but they have added a somewhat hideous light pad and titanium fingered batting gloves. Also done the amplus in junior size. The tan leather has gone completely in the softs too...
-
M&H have brought out a hideous lightweight pad and dropped all the tan leather! No other changes to the bat range though...
-
Newbery have gone flat face too? :s
was always going to happen........

I did just see the pads on Twitter... Look somewhat disturbing
No changes to the bags?

Pants, isn't it?
I dont think it is fitting for one of the best makers the world has ever seen

was always going to happen........
Very good post.
-
I am slightly mopre concerned about the implications for other brands...
-
On Lord please tell this is't tribute to Jon Newbery... please say no
was that an earthquake I just felt, or the great man turning in his grave...!!
-
Been to the show. By consensus:-
Pants - sabre, county
Good - salix, slazenger
Most innovative product - v1200
Worst - sabre stickers, m&h new pads
Best overall bat - chase flc, salix torque
Best keeping gloves - m&h
Worst pr - gray nics for not letting us take pics
Simmy to show pics later....
-
personally the "cenkos" concept should have been named after John Newbery as it would seem much more fitting. Instead they named it after some investment company, guess that's the way capitalism works. Money talks
-

Everyone going to flat face lol :(

This. Rather they tribute poor fella with horrendous bat :( >:(
-
has the tour gone flat face too??
-
Tom what impressed you the most at today's spectacle?
Salix Torque. And Chase FLC
-
Lots of flat face big edges but hats off to dukes for labelling bats with the finished weight including stickers and grip. They also showed an average weight bats, unlike many who had heavy big edge bats.

What was good about the M&H keeping gloves Nick? Or is it best to wait for Simmy?
I saw the pic of the County ones and they looked horrific :o
-
They're white and silver
-
Simmy says soft and warm
-

I find this odd as most of their gear has been out the longest Ie Maverick, Dynadrive etc.
-
The newbery bags weren't very good either. You'll have to see the pics.
-
What was the boom boom c to v bat like? Can't tell from photos but does it have a flat face?
Looks similar to the gm zona - but I'm not keen on the flat face & stickers of the gm, so this might be a better option.
-
Surprised to see the C to V profile idea copied by Boom Boom .
-
Don't know all the boom boom bats were (No Swearing Please)
No c time v as far as I know
-
The new Newbery bags were hideous, as was the lightweight M&H pads. I'm also not massively keen on the new Salix stickers - don't understand why they and Newbery are so keen to get all funky and hip - it doesn't suit their style at all!
This may be controversial, but purely from a retailer's point of view, the best on show today were BoomBoom - their price points cannot be beaten. Simple as. And nice to see them experimenting with new kit like shoes and fibreglass bats!
-
What's all this c to v stuff?
-
Fibreglass bats?
-
I think they are tape-ball bats, no? Saw loads of them in Pakistan...
-
I think they are tape-ball bats, no? Saw loads of them in Pakistan...
Yes, tape ball
-
Or indoor cricket, kids playing in the park etc.
I also forgot to mention their bags - some good big bags for about half the price of most other big bags...
Technically, I think Chase had the best range there, just a shame they don't want to supply us! :(
-
Good to see I'm not the only one to be rather disappointed in the Salix stickers.
-
Funny how people have different opinions on things.
I showed my Dad the new M&H pads and he said they were nice. They're growing on me but not sure they'll be my next pair of pads
-
Well, I only managed a fourty minute flying visit, which was pretty much what I'd hoped to spend per stand, but a few impressions.
I think Paul is right about the Boom Boom stuff - lets face it, none of us are their target market, and I can well imagine that the kids will love their range again next year, especially given that they are very competitively priced.
The three things that most made me go "want one" were the new Chase bat (nope, the name slips my mind), the Cadbury GT335 and the SS softs. The thing that I most liked was how generally decent cricket folk are!
Thins I did not like (aside from certain brands policy on long blades!) were the Salixes, which looked less desireable than they have for years, the gakk G&M range, the loss of the B52 from Newbery (though oddly I didn't mind the JLN stickers...wierd) and the prat of a doorman!!!
-
Chase bat is flc - four leaf clover
-
from the pictures i like the SF gloves and MH space age pads.
What was the quality like on the SF golves?
The MH bats looekd to have square toes not rounded?
Any idea on prices for next years gear ... have the MH bats hit £600?
-
it nice to see everybody going all chase....
There kit has been good for a few seasons good to see them getting better and better :D
-
Do you have to be on Twatter to see any pics of stuff?
-
hosk, simmy and others have taken a load of pictures, if would be good if they could stick them up!
-

2nd that... 3rd that to if it helps... :)
-
Best wasabi peas: The lords taveners
Best beer: The Dukes
Best Food The Dukes
Best Banter: Simmy
Worst haircut: Longshanks and Legohead
Worst mistake: M77 for confusing a pushchair with a wheelchair....
That is all.

I'am very much there target market there the number 1 bat out here and i think there as good as any to be honest BOOM BOOM that is

It's come in dribs and drabs on Twitter and CI forum, was expecting a ton of photos on here. But then it's still early......

Some have a near 4 hour journey home! Its my fault as i encouraged the post show pub visit! ;-)
I could have been drinking all night and those boom booms would still look fugly.... awful!
Possibly the worst sale team ever assembled too.... (something bad) would have been more subtle.

They've gone up a bit, but not quite £600 yet, John, thankfully!
Was good to see the Master MkII added...

Will have to strongly agree to disagree - the BoomBoom lads are some of the nicest, most genuine guys around - and they are really passionate about their brand. It's infectious! From a branding point of view, they are the best out there at the moment, and their kit is actually bloody good. We've had some great feedback from customers, and as I said before, the price points can't be beaten. Good to see there is at least one other forumite who's a fan, in Dave...

:D

Strongly disagree on the branding from for Boom boom, think they are one of the worst out there but the world would be a boring place indeed if we all had the same opinions.
Not much has stood out really from what I have seen besides the snazzy new Ayrtek range.
Would like to see the new M&H kpr gloves too.
I think the bit of kit I'm most impressed by is still the H4L Tempo to be honest
-
is that stickers or there bat shape Marcus
Stickers are a bit more interesting incorporating more in terms of backing graphics but the overall bats are not what I first found from Maddy a few years back.
The new shape "arrogance" doesn't for me work, it's swing is poor and there are better bats out their that offer that middle position but with substance. It's a good example of a compromised bat. My opinion granted but there wasn't much to get excited about.
Salix put real effort into the product and you get that in the finished product... The rest not that fussed. The v1200 is a nice stick and the saffas bats looked tidy.
Newbery look disjointed... Some nice bits.... Some Shocking!!! I can't help but think the homage to John would make him turn 360.
-
Is the arrogance similar in shape though to a certain forum sponsors new bat shape..
I love the shape but i do like the asian shape
Are they made in the Uk now or still sareen
-

You may get a different response as you purchase from these guys but the very moment they found out I wasn't a retailer that enthusiasm changed pretty quickly... I think they had better things to do rather than talk to the likes of an enthusiastic bat geek...
-
When I say branding, I'm not necessarily talking stickers (certainly not my favourite), but rather the brand image as a whole. There's no other brand out there at the moment that draws in the kids more than BoomBoom. Having a fun, catchy name certainly helps!
-
Adidas

You could say its close to Andys but even though I don't work for Saf anymore I would say that the feel of each are poles apart. I think I'd put my coin with the guy that can alter to suit the individual.
-
Did anyone visit the Mongoose stand? I didn't get round to them in the end. Had no real interest in seeing them really (we are going to drop them), but just curious what the new stuff is like...
-
agree there marcus entirely
-

That I agree with, but having dealt with boom boom before and having some pretty good in depth chats... I wasn't that enamoured with certain traits. But it's a numbers game.
-
And as others have said (or maybe even you) we're not the target market for them. They do nothing for me, I would never buy any of their gear but as long as someone does then I guess they're doing something right....
-
Strange thing with boom boom is that despite being stocked by the biggest local retailer I have never seen anyone using any of their gear. The youngsters at our club seem to go for Adidas and Puma who they know for things outside of cricket. Their marketing seems to be aimed very much at the Asian cricket fan with everything based on Afridi although I appreciate they have other sponsored players on board.
I think I just haven't really forgiven them for the horror show that was their keeping gear...
-
A bloke at the midweek team I play for has a top of the range boom boom, and it's an absolute gun
-
On another note, who else was disappointed with salix? Their stickers looked a bit silly to me and flat faces pretty much all round - couldn't believe it!
-
I was disappointed after seeing Salix, usually they are the only ones who impress and stand out each year but this year I was disappointed :(
-
Agreed, when you have a great brand built on a classy and elegant image I can't see the need to start jazzing up the stickers
-
going back to Boom Boom, I know from coaching that they have major brand appeal and I think in those circs its sensible not to price yourself away from your core market, so props to them.
-
Simmy is charging up the M69/M1 as I speak - eta was 11.30pm so don't hold your breath on those pics today.
Salix bats looked great, the Strike Wasp looked a great willow at an affordable price point - rrp £180, so sub £150? stickers were so so but not that bad.
Boom Boom might work from a retailers point of view, good price points (didn't see the wholesale prices but I imagine they were good) and large willow. However with the bigger brands, gray nics in particular, doing similar size willow I'm not sure how they will go. Agree with thecord, marketing aimed at the asian market.
Wasn't impressed with the Dynadrive, looked like a badly made Luna.
Thanks to Tom for the invite, enjoyed today and meeting other forum members.
-

There was something very elegant about the old Salix stickers. They just looked quality. These new stickers don't really work for me in comparison but I still think that they are better than a lot of other sticker designs in the marketplace. Salix, for me, will still be one of the 'must have' brands though...
The flat faces don't bother me too much but I am surprised they have done it right across the range and not just done one model like it.
-
Pleasure lads, got back at 9:30 so not too bad on the way back.
Some nice new kit out there on the Bat brands front but prices seem to be going through the roof which surprised me a little.
Paul, did you get the chance to see James or Wayne as didnt get the chance to say hello personally :(
-
How much was the Chase FLC?
-
UK
How did the BS kit rate up there softs mate
-
By going what Paul said regarding M&H I think they too are going away from that classy look! :(
-
£375 if thats their top end model Simmy and Nick were wafting about when i walked past
-
I don't think their softs were too bad at all. It was the first stand we went to after Tom's so the memory is hazy. Bat's looked decent but not outstanding. reliable is the word.
Yes it was something in the £300+ region rrp for the FLC - buys you some lovely stickers lol
-
For a £300+ rrp I would expect better stickers ha
-
What did you guys make of the new Newbery stuff? I spotted some green trimmed pads next to the bag with the zany decals.
-
The new salix stickers may not be to some of you guys liking but the bats they had at the show today would more than persuade you to shelling out for one, they were massive for their weight, a 3lb dukes bat was smaller than their lightest bat.
Newbury softs were very good, they have pittards on most of their gloves now.
I took a few pictures with my iPhone which are currently uploading so will post them when they are done!
(except the gray nics ones which I wasn't supposed to take)
-
When you do see photos remember this. Every brand sticks out there best and lightest cleft on the stand. Indeed one brand hadn't even pressed their bats to make them look bigger. Therefore everything looks big and more often than not the weights are 2'13/14+ judging by the feel of the pickup. Indeed it was difficult to find a average weight bat on many stands. Dukes were almost alone in showing finished bat weights and including a representative range of weights and grades.
-
Who didn't press their bats? That's ridiculous haha
-
Begins with S and ends in S.
-
An interesting approach by the brands, do they not expect the retailers to actually pick up the bats??
-
Begins with S and ends in S.
Haha I think I can work that out. Can't say I'm surprised by that now everyone else has caught them up in edge sizes, need any advantage they can get.
-
£375 if thats their top end model Simmy and Nick were wafting about when i walked past
Sorry, Tom, I walked onto your stand at 4.30 but everyone had gone and it had been packed up! Tried a couple of other times but you were busy both times! I think the show should've been 2 days long!
-

Don't think many will agree with you about the dynadrive, but good point about the wasp - I had forgotten about that one! Good to see some sub £200 salix bats on the market now. I am just nervous about this whole flat face thing. I can't see it not putting quite a lot of people off! I hope I am proven wrong though because there aren't many rounded faced bats for us retailers to choose from next year!!
-
Haha yeah sorry mate alright for u locals but it of a trek back home for us country boys ;)

Thanks for the photos! Mongoose keeper gloves must be one of those that look better in the flesh than in photos I reckon. When I go to trade shows all the suppliers swap stock at the end, I take it this doesn't happen here?!

Sorry guys but I like this bag.
(shuts eyes and braces himself for the inevitable hatred that will follow)
-
Good to see Newbery Cadbury. Mongoose keeping gear was nice. SF softs very good for price points. And love the retro ranges from GN & Slaz.
Disappointment was from M&H who did nothing new in bats really, and softs were mainly fugly.
Star of the show was the Chase FLC. Also liked Salix Torque.

aha I did remember to take a photo of that!
I like this bag too, they did have another bag in a similar style but that didn't look very good at all.
-
From memory I like the green Newbery bag a little more

Agreed about the millichamp softs, especially their lightweight pads which were hideous.

Any info on the 'Newbery Pro Grain' Tom?
5 star bats made to look like cenkos grade willow?
Can anyone expand on this?
-
It's basically a 5* bat which is dyed to have perfect grains. Similar to the grain sheet bats you've seen from other brands but dyed into the wood.
-
Could someone tell me how much the blue SF (Triumph?) gloves are please.
-
From memory RRP £55, will retail at £45ish.

Thanks bud
-
Thanks Tom. They look protective, well made and comfortable somehow haha.
-
Decent day, unlike many I loved the salix stickers and there attitudes, as for the guy on gn stand didn't really give us the time on day, also said I couldn't take photos, even tho we have all seen the bats.... Mong. Sabre cricket loooool
-
simmy what where the cut of the gloves like mate quite long or normal all the brands bud
-
Great work Stewie Kidd, much appreciated!
Guys how was Slazenger Pro Tour bag? I'm really tempted by it....
-
the slaz bag mate was really nice! 3 bat pockets as well and very big...
90% of the keep gloves mate id say where normal sized cuffs

Worst mistake: M77 for confusing a pushchair with a wheelchair....
That is all.
LIKE :D
-
Thanks CD, simmy should have some pictures of the slaz bag.
-
the slaz bag mate was really nice! 3 bat pockets as well and very big...
only concern I have with the slaz bag was the quality of the zippers. Not as sturdy as Salix and it took me a couple of goes to zip the bat section shut. Looked a very decent bag otherwise and like everything else in the slaz range some thought had been put into it. They also had some very light pads.
-
Were there any non-traditional looking pads on show, like we normally see from the likes of puma/mongoose?
-
The slaz ones I mentioned, mongoose, m&h, SS/Boom Boom all had some modern style pads.
-
BoomBoom had a few light pads, with the Signature 100 being £25 RRP! I thought they looked quite nice too...
-
If those Krakatoa gloves were Boom Boom ... what would people say?
Terrible!
-
im hoping pete took lots and lots of product shots cos mine are not that good lol
-
Great work Stewie Kidd, much appreciated!
Guys how was Slazenger Pro Tour bag? I'm really tempted by it....
I showed the M&H boys photos of the Slazenger Pro Tour bag. They thought it was a blatant copy of theirs, but were quite amused. Having never seen the M&H leather bag in the flesh, I couldn't really comment, but would be interested to hear other people's views?
-
Is the arrogance similar in shape though to a certain forum sponsors new bat shape..
I love the shape but i do like the asian shape
Are they made in the Uk now or still sareen
Looking at the shape again and short of the marketing gumpf for it I would say they didn't copy the new shape I created. I dont want to sound conceited but I'd say it is too ugly for one of my shapes and doesn't look right for what it is suppose to achieve [well what I expect my bat to achieve on a technical level]
Mine looks like this

Sorry if this has already been asked but.. Did Slaz say how much their training bat would be?

Paul, I can just picture your shop covered in wall to wall Boom Boom gear next time I pop in!

If the RRP is in the brochure then Ryan might know.

Wasn't impressed with the Dynadrive, looked like a badly made Luna.
I wondered if anyone else thought that, it's basically the same shape as the Luna.
-
I wondered if anyone else thought that, it's basically the same shape as the Luna.
Not even sure it was that good. The scoops were cut straight down into the bat near the spine and almost looks like channels from the old Xiphos.
Luna had a bit more tlc with the scooping imho but the scooped area was larger:-

After seeing this to compare, not quite the same - but yeah I agree the scoops were vertical, bit of a strange shape on them.

not sure that many people will go that far for one! Mind you, I can think of at least one person who will be tempted to use one in a match!

So I see M&H have changed their 'softs' colour schemes to blue?
Are there any other changes to their bag lineups?
-
similar Tim but I got the impression the spine scoop when straight down and the scoop was an "L" shape before curving out towards the edge. Maybe the others can remember better?
-
So I see M&H have changed their 'softs' colour schemes to blue?
Are there any other changes to their bag lineups?
The new M+H top range pads are erm... interesting... - cant remember their softs being blue - just very plain. Their bags have changed back to the normal bag material from the leather, with one absolutely huge bag (which apparently fits in a boot, but they didn't state which car).
-

The bags are now black and silver, Dan. In my opinion, they don't look as good, but they are a little bigger. The Double Decker has gone and been replaced by an even larger one, with a rather unusual shape.
I was pretty disappointed with the M&H kit overall. I think the softs look worse now, and of all the new stuff, it was only really the Master Lite that interested me, and their prices seem to have gone up more than most. Can't see us stocking much of them next year... :(

it was just the length that would be the issue. did seem to stand pretty. probably be looking at an estate or a decent saloon car. hatchbacks are probably a no.
-
Saying that, my M+H Double decker pretty much fills up the boot in my Picasso, and that ain't a small boot!
-
Been a good read this one. Its hard for companys to please every one if they keep things the same they get moaned at or if they try new things they get shot down. And most things with pads have been done before the laws only allow you to do so much to a bat anyway as sorry to come across in this way but just saying as I see it
-
They'll never please everyone, but doesn't stop some fairly horrible stuff being released.
-
Looks like the Chase FLC and Cadbury Newberys have pleased everyone though (so far at least)! Rightly so, in my opinion...

Yeah, I've got quite cynical about them over the past year or so, and I understand the need for change so happy that I got all my gear when it was better quality/colourway!
The cynicism is a bit extended by the mixture of square toed and faced bats, and the general development in lineups from 2010 to now. Almost as if they're changing, or using different batmakers...

ive edited 3/4 of my pics so ill get them uploaded and posted now

Nice one Simmy.

Did anyone see a White (cloth covered, trad style) Helmet from any of the brands?

thirty years ago maybe!
-
Did anyone see a White (cloth covered, trad style) Helmet from any of the brands?
No, but Masuri have got a few new colours (yellow, gold, sky blue, red etc.), and a new entry level club helmet as well, which was good to see...
-
didnt even bother looking at masuri lol sure they had nothing exciting
-
Actually Simmy Masuri are releasing three models of helmet which I found really exciting!
-
Did Salix have their bags on show by any chance? Any new Bags coming for the 2013 season?
-
Did Salix have their bags on show by any chance? Any new Bags coming for the 2013 season?
They had a few, right at the back. They said they're not changing at all though, which was good to hear - if it ain't broke, don't fix it! 8)
-
Those chase stickers are remarkably similar to our Viceroy ones...just saying...!
-
they do in indeed
-
I like everything I have seen in the photo's posted so far.. But my fav is the lime green ayrtek... Love that....
-
Ok - many things have deeply aroused me in this and the photo thread. I have questions though -
When is this stuff released to us mere mortals and the prices confirmed?
Paul - will you be stocking the Boom Boom Aggro? - I must have one!
Has anyone got a toe up shot of the new Dynadrive? I am disturbed by people saying it's like a dodgy Luna, and I'd be interested to compare?
Have to say - I luurrrrrrrrveeeeeeeee the Newbery TT softs - anyone know how much they will be, or where they sit in the range?
New Credit Card please!
-
I think stuff goes into shops around November time Mr FC . If you have a custom RK you don't need a
Poor LunaDynadrive and no GN wouldn't let us take pics of the bat so the argument will rage on.
-
Prices are confirmed now, with RRP's. 20% off RRP is industry standard, so educated guesses can be made. Gear is out in November/December time usually.

Couldnt agree more Dan .... MH used to be my favourite brand but since 2010 i havent been impressed given the prices they cost. That 2010 distinction shape was unbeleivable but since then the amplus and distinction have the same middle position jst one has thicker edges and now square toes.... there must be a good reason for it though??
batmakers out there, what is the advantage of a square face/toe beside the edge looking thicker and its easier to square off the toe than make it round?
-
So where can I see list prices Tombola? Interested in the Aggro and the Newb TT softs?
-
do tailenders need nice softs?

I asked them about the Square Toes and they said they did it due to the 'trend', I guess like other brands have done too.
-
I wonder what people will make of the lime green flashes ??? We could suddenly become all cool now Newbery have it on theirs too lol
-

I wouldn't be so cheeky if I had been photographed and posted on the forum in my Tesco value trousers!!

cotton traders, don't you know anything about over the hill fashion :)

We will have the Arrogance, yes, hopefully pre-christmas too. Don't want to miss out on any BoomBoom action! :-) How soon would you want one?
I love the TT softs too - they are on the wish list too, but may take a while longer before they're on our shelves...
-
Did sareen show off the embossed s test opener pads at all
No SS branded stuff for UK market. Just TON
-
Was surridge at the trade show
Anything new???
-
so which bat maker was the winner of the show do you guys reckon

Bruce the Boomboom arrogance is just wrong... It is wrong with regards to the name and wrong in profile shape

Slazenger for trying something different.
-
Agreed, their old stuff was junk, but they have tried to be different, some of it works, some doesn't, but at least they look to have put some though into it.
-
Kulli, I'm big fan of change but I like the bats to look nice as well
I'll stick that in my list of bats I dont like and move on :D
-
i was impressed with slazanger and salix and chase :)
-
Slazenger for trying something different.
I have to agree, personally though it makes no real odds to the bat but the v1200 is kinda cool.
But the lad that took on the project saw out his vision and executed it well. I was a little disappointed with certainly materials being used when others of a better quality from the same supplier were available but even so... the top to bottom work over of a fading name has done wonders and occupies a few column inches as well as forums.
-
The Slaz V12 is sexy
-
i wasnt fussed about the v6 and the v16 hate the look of the stickers! but the v1200 was modern and nice blade,
as marcus just said tho not sure the scooping makes any differnce but it looks good! and is something very different!
back in my teenage year slazenger was my fav brand, over the years they have been disappointing me, but nice to see some new stuff!
-

Different things look nice to different people, otherwise they'd all look the same. Though there are a few companies out there becoming indistinguishable.
-
other thing on pressing (or lack of it in SS case), was it Salix who said they press the top half of the bat lighter than the bottom?
Dukes, Chase, Salix were all good for different reasons.
-

I know I was stating my opinion, we'll agree to disagree, as I'm getting texts from Fattus complaining that he loves it.... I dont dislike Boom Boom I just dislike this shape the same way I dont like the GM Zona. I dont dislike GM, I've actually got a GM and Boom Boom BTW :D
-

Really, that is really interesting
-
I think Simmy or Stewie was having the conversation with Mrs Kimber on the subject.
-
Vicky Kember

Yes, I was told that too. I guess this is one of the reasons why the Salix toes always sound so true and alive - almost pinging down there - unlike on many other bats...
-
I'm big admirer of the Salix press and that snippet of info has just dotted the i's and cross the t's on how they do stuff and how it works
-
Does anyone have any ideas when all this new gear goes live on companies websites for general browsing/sale?
-
Seeing a lot praise for Chase gear on here, softs look nice in pics but same applies for top of the range gear from other companies...as for bats I can't tell from pics but is the finishing of Chase bats thats great? or are we just admiring the stickers? never used a chase bat so don't know how good they are...
-
the finishing was decent, not up to Salix standards but decent, and the willow feels reassuringly solid. Used an Orca a few years back, the bats are well made and go as you'd expect at the pricepoint...

Thank you Manormanic...might have to try one next year or sometime in future..

Chase bats are great, I know a number of forum members who own Chase bats (myself included) but surprisingly you rarely see them for sale second hand on here.....maybe that's a sign of how good they are! No one wants to part with them! :D
Not cheap mind, but you get what you pay for. Definitely up there quality/performance wise with L&W, Salix, Scat etc..,..imo (well I've used all those manufacturers bats and the Chase is comfortable in that company)
The finishing isn't quite up to the standards of Salix but nothing else on the market is if we're honest.
-
Saw a guy break the bottom corner off one this season - just one of those things - it can happen. Anyway, it was replaced FOC by return of post. Can't argue with that.
-
now thats what I call customer service!
-
I think Chase also still offer the following - costs about £240 from memory.
Visit the Chase Workshop in Dummer, Hampshire to watch your bat being crafted especially for you!
You will be involved throughout the whole process from choosing the willow cleft to having a hand in the pick-up, weight, handle size and overall shape of the bat.
Your initials and the date of birth of the bat are then added to the shoulder.
-
now thats what I call customer service!
The FLC also includes a free refurb including couriers and new stickers after 12 months. Really nice idea I thought,

It's that kind of customer service that you pay extra for....I've never had any problems with any of my bats but I have no doubt Chase would sort it out with no quibbles if I did. I had a pair of gloves where the stitching came undone and he just gave me a new pair immediately. Yes, Dan is a mate of mine so I'm biased but he's very, very good at what he does. Buying gear from Chase is not a gamble.

Indeed it is - especially when you think how much some other manufacturers charge for equivalent services!

No mate! :( He's snowed under all the time, too busy making bats (So he says!! :D )
This thread gives you a bit of info about him. http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=14835.0

It's kind of a 'bat for life' scheme isn't it? Hahaha!
-
Dan is a good bloke indeed been buying bats off him from around 7 years and even when he was getting them pressed somewhere else although he still went and did it
His softs changed when he changed his vendor and now they are inline if not slightly better
Than most
He has worked hard to get the whole range where it is.
-
It's kind of a 'bat for life' scheme isn't it? Hahaha!
well, a bat for two years - which is about four to six times what they usually last me!

Chase's kit (at Lord's) looked top notch to me. Also, the Four Leaf Clover on show was only a sample. Apparently the real one will have the clear stickers without the white background, so it'll look even nicer - Newbery Cenkos-esque!
It's a brand we'd love to stock if they ever wanted to take our money - unfortunately, they don't want to at the moment...

I didn't know that, so the white stickers we saw are going to be replaced with clear ones? It sounds amazing, looking forward to seeing one in the flesh. I hope he decides to keep the white backed stickers for another model though...I think they look really classy.
-

It's geographical, that's all I'll say. To give them credit, I like the fact that they're choosy and want to support their existing stockists in matters such as these.
But it's no big deal - I've got someone else in mind to fill the slot I was planning to allocate for Chase. Taking on a new brand has never been this exciting! 8) However, I am not prepared to reveal any names at this stage...

even if there is a big enough market in London....
so, what are IJC stocking in general next year - the same companies? any changes?

It's more a "I don't want to tread on our preferred suppliers' toes" type thing, Iain, but don't really want to go into any detail on here.
There will be some changes in the IJC stocks, yes. We are going to be a lot leaner and meaner, with 4 or 5 brands facing the chop. There will be an addition or two though. Quite exciting, and in one case in particular, far from predictable...
-
get some Spartan gear in ...
-
Next yrs line-up for IJC
Nike, Reebok, Brittania, Hero ;)
-
other thing on pressing (or lack of it in SS case)
Was knocking in the SS KP earlier and really noticed how little it seemed to be pressed. I have one of those M&H mallets and it was making some right indentations in the blade from a pretty standard hit.

As I said earlier, no pics of the Gel Advance on that link. So what are they to look like? Presuming same as Australia, per Aswani's post.
