Have the opportunity to pick a bat(s) from Sialkot so wondering if I should go for the most obvious choice – CA (15000, 12000) or choose something different.
It’s not me hand picking it but a cousin who plays at a decent level. Throw some ideas at me guys...
-
any overdried, hardly pressed lump, so long as it had a decent handle?
probably a MiDS
These look good too

although the spelling on the website could do with some help. Perhaps Fast Eddie could offer his services!! ;)
-
I'm pretty sure mine is a MiDS and it's an absolute stormer of a bat.
-
I recently received an ihsan bat and really like the profile
minimal concaving
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of ishan bats

GN Legends, surely!
-
CA 15000 should be the obvious choice if you don't have any budget limitations. However, in my experience, MiDs is as good as CA if not better.
-
one of the guys in our team has a Malik Bubber Sher LE, goes like an absolute rocket...worth having a look at.
-
My choice would be CA15000, CA TRD LTD EDITION and MALIK BUBBER SHER.
-
GN Legends, surely!
look at their keeping gloves aswell
seen them somewhere before
-
Admittedly my English produced bats have always latest far longer than any Pakistani bats I’ve owned. I do usually have them ‘prepared’ before playing with them which tends to be partly pressed and partly mallet knocked in.
MIDs is one I was looking at, as in comparison to the more popular brands they seems to be quite a bit cheaper. Complete rip off on the GN Legend pads but wonder if they’re actually the same pads rebranded or just a rip off of the design?
I’ve had an Ihsan a couple of seasons ago – wasn’t top grade but played very well.
Was rather hoping to get thrown some names which aren’t mainstream to take a punt on – as they’ll potentially be cheaper.

That's hilarious

Was intrested in them selling Thai Pad's - clicked on the link but sadly they were not a house in Thailand! :)

My ca custom is one of best bats I've ever used

I think its just Pad Thai thats served backwards so you don't see it coming!! ;)
-
Mids and I got a couple of specials coming very soon from mids
-
I think the key with Pakistani bats is hand picking them yourself (although that could be said for all). I remember going into the UT shop in Karachi many years ago (around the time they signed Afridi), it wasn't until I asked the right questions that I was shown the 'special' selection of bats. In the end the guys in the shop bought out about 20 - I had to tell them to stop!! haha... I couldn't possibly test all 20 for rebound, etc.
Despite my cousin knowing what to look for, I am always sceptical of letting someone else pick a bat for me. Which is why if there was an alternative (cheaper) brand, I would be more comfortable taking a punt.
I think CA are the safest bet though. I've owned some stormers and recently have held some nice ones which have been bought back by Pakistani pros.
Perhaps I'll give mids a go.
-
I wouldn't mind going to all manufacturers as they have very good bats if i was picking one for myself. CA and Ihsan are obviously the choices though Boom Boom will not be a bad idea. last time i visited them, i came cross Riaz Afridi's bat and i can say that i had not seen a monster in flesh that big. the edges were probably around 40 but it was the spine and the overall size that was unbelievable and it was there to be copied as he needed more such bats.
Mids and others are very good too. AM is a good option but i am not too sure about their dealings. i did not find them pleasant. Malik obviously is another one. I still feel that very few bats can perform better than the sher and bubber sher.
-
and try to pick blank bats rather than stickered ones, judge the bat on its playing qualities rather than the sticker on top of it.
-
I'd agree with you there Armatron - you don't need to look much further than a decent Sher!
-
M A sports bats small company prides him sell top bats
-
Ca 15000 are no brainers ar the moment. Everyone I have seen or tested has been exceptional. Personally im loving mids at the moment. Awesome pickup and cracking large middle area
-
Does anybody know of any retailers in the UK who sell MIDS??
-

nice one mate, could you provide me with the link please will check them out....quite tempted to get a MIDS!!
-
I have I get mine through a sponsored player I find mids lovely bats sometimes overdried for sure but they go like the clappers
-
would you be able to put any pics up mate?
-
I have got both Mids X-Power and Ca 15000 LE ! I got a double blade custom X-Power from them with 45-50 mm edges and the weight felt like 2.7-2.8, so I would advise get a mids X-Power. Ca was nice as well but I could not hit sixes that much easily with it.

Without meaning to sound rude isn't that more down to the batsman than the bat??
-
I meant that it did'nt have that much punch as my X-Power did !

lol

I'd get an AS V12 - will go against the grain of the CA likers on here, have it made as you by their bat maker. (May have to change the handles as they ain't great) only ever had performing, well pressed bats from AS. V12's are better performing than the V10's I've had/seen.
And to fly a little in the face of the 'over dried' concept, I can only speak from experience but had 3 for a year and a half now - and only a few small cosmetic surface cracks on edges.....I do knock my bats in hard however - and for a long time.
And they occasionally help me hit sixes....ok that might not be the bat ;-)
-
I've never used one but quite a few of the guys in my team use CA bats. They go well, and in deference to the popular notion they also seem to last quite well.
-
Boom Boom could be an option as well !
-
One of Jason's Spartans lol
-

There top of the range is uk made as some know...
I have just received a mids x power off my mate was a top order Pakistan players bat looks well nothing special had a little hit goes as well as any top class bat
-
Ishans are usually quite decent, I used the lynx for half a season, it was lovely, albeit slightly too heavy! They're slightly on the cheaper side too
-

Assuming you're on about higher end ones, as one of our under 15s let me use theirs to give catches and it was a total plank! Was a shame as it looked a nice stick :(

I guess you get what you pay for, I have a contact at the factory where they make the bats so usually get decent sticks, so is slightly biased, although i've used one of the bats around 80 quid and it isn't that bad, they do look nice though!!
-
MIDS are absolute belters but stay away from CA's as they are over dried and do not last long as a general rule!!
-
My vote is for MB malik Limited edition!

Our club must have the only CA bats to ever last, my Dad's is into its 4th season and a couple are kicking around that are up to 8 seasons old.
I refurbed one for a mate the other week that has had 7 seasons use and still going strong

I second this statement !! I have 5 CA Bats and all are exceptional, have used them at least for 2 season and still in perfect condition.

How many of you guys have used/ have MB malik Limited edition? what do you guys think of it?
-
Totally agree with shoab ..ca bats are the best bet for asian bats ..to add u need to take of ur bats..it will last long..

They are good bats havent owned one but couple of mates in my do ..have played with them ..really nice perfoming willows ..
-
Mb malik limited edition is the same as the regular bubber sher. Its just marketing to attain a higher price !
-
The Malike LE that I'm using has one of the best middles I've ever felt. I just hope the inevitable handle change won't mess that up!

How do you know the LE is not a higher grade of willow?

I own a Malik LE, the willow quality (looks) are better than Bubber Sher. It has big middle and huge edges (though more concaving that I would like), the toe end of the bat is really dead. Its a beauty if the ball comes onto the middle or higher middle end of the bat. My bat has almost 12 clean grains (except for a small blemish).

Do you have any evidence to back this up? In my opinion the same could be said about all/ any bat grading but from personal experience and having owned a Bubber Sher and now two LEs the performance and rebound is noticeably better on both the LEs. The Sher was a good bat but for some reason I didn't get on with it.
Having said that, the shapes are indeed very similar and the Sher looked like a grade 1 too. But the balance and pick up on the LEs are amazing compared to the Sher I had...

I'm with others on this one! It is quotes like this that we need to address!
If you have evidence about this claim then I will back you up and say,"Well done for pointing this out fella!"
But to blurt out this claim without backing it up in any way, then it's simply unfair on the brand!!
So what evidence are you basing this on?

A question for owners of CA bats, Do you find that they aren't the weight stated on the side sticker.
-
The last two I received were quite close to the sticker weight - may be .1 , .2 oz difference
So if stated 2-10 , then my machine showed 2-10.2
You do have to remove the plastic cover and any extra face sheet supplier with the bat before you weight it and then it should match the sticker.

This is the inconsistency that most talk about with Asian/ Pakistani bats.
Both a friend and I bought CA plus 10000. His was stickered 2.7 (despite asking for a 2.8) and actually weighs 2.7
Where as the one I have says 2.8 but is just short of 2.10
So I don't really buy the "it's the weight without stickers" theory- just inconsistency. Which is frustrating as both are fantastic bats and pingtastic. But I wanted to try a lighter bat (2.8 max) so will have to sell this one.
-
Another question about CA bats, I have two of them handed in to knock but it feels pressed hard. Are they generally pressed hard ?. I love the plus 8000 profile with no concave.

When I bought my Dads for him I knocked it in for him too. It did feel very hard pressed but started going like a gun after a couple of hours with the mallet and a few nets with it.

Found one of mine to be hard pressed, but went like a train from ball one according to the user, and only got better! Another one was slightly softer pressed, but still went.

From the initial response off the mallet I'm sure it would have gone from the off despite the pressing. I just can't let a bat get used without being knocked in if I can help it haha :-[

For me, it depends which bat it is to be honest! I like knocking in bats, although I have found myself not really knocking in the harder pressed ones as much. I'm currently knocking in a Strauss LE Powerbow, which was pressed nice and softly, and it's responding really nicely. Also just got a beauty of a B&S in for a friend from Jake, gave it a few whacks with the mallet and it seems pretty close to being ready! I guess it all depends on the feel, I'll always give every bat some mallet time before usage. I ALWAYS start off very gently when I start playing with a bat though!
-
I have to admit that I like knocking in bats that are pressed nicely or softly pressed. The hard pressed ones are hard to determine how much more knocking in required.
