IPL starting on wednesday with Kolkata playing Delhi, whose looking forward to this or is planning to watch it?
-
I'm planning to watch it as ill be bored anyways haha!
-
is it on Itv again this year?
-
I think so, itV4 was it last year? i personally love the IPL
-
Yeah, I enjoy it for a couple of weeks - but it does go on forever and by the time it gets towards finishing I hardly bother to watch the semis/final as there's just been too much cricket.

Yeah thats exactly what happens with me aswel!
-
I'm going to be watching it more this year for various reasons. Before I only watched the odd match.
I've read a couple of previews for this season. If anyone fancies a punt then this was a decent read: http://gamblerfalls.com/ipl-2013-preview/ (http://gamblerfalls.com/ipl-2013-preview/)
-
I enjoy watching the IPL, although I don't agree with the millions of Dollars spent in it I think the action is great to watch and all the international players playing together is something not seen anywhere else.
-
It makes me want to buy more sareen sports kit I don't want to watch but will no doubt
-

I did at first but quickly tired of it because the structure is so wrong - you get a lot of teams who sepnd a fortune on big hitting overseas batsmen and even more on any Indian lad who can get it off the square plus one "gun" bowler per team. The other overs are sent down by a succession of third and fourth rate local players who wear the harried look of those who know they have been set up as cannot fodder from the very start. Its not a contest...

Pretty much agree with all that. Indians players (barring the obvious players!) are all utter rubbish and then you have a few has been's and a few 'stars' who pretty much cream the second rate or 'T20' specialist bowlers (Luke Wright etc). It was interesting the first season but now is utterly boring. I can honestly say I have no interest in it and won't watch a thing, I also don't know anyone else that will watch it unless there happens to be nothing else on. Doesn't mean it's a flop as the Indians love it and tbh, as there are millions more of them than us brits! So I suspect they couldn't give a crap what we as a nation think.
-
Ipl is hurting the Indian test team.
-
Ipl is hurting the Indian test team.
Question is: How long will India have a test team for? Before they decide to just say that ODI/T20 is the only cricket that should be played.
-
Money talks...but the ipl is not what it used to be. Stadiums are not as full as they used to be. I give the ipl another 5 years in its current format. Reduce the number of matches and make it a shorter event, and it will create much more interest.
-
Ipl is hurting the Indian test team.
I think it's hurting the Aussie test team as well.
-
I enjoy watching it as it's the only live cricket I can watch on TV
-

Lol why don't you look up who won the Under 19s World Cup in Australia before you start commenting on talent available in other countries.

have to disagree with you, some of the young indian guys look class. There's a couple that have emerged in the one day squad through this. It is all a bit showy, and I don't agree with the money players are paid to play in a tournament but I do like the platform, and T20 cricket. Not to mention gives some of the older guys a chance to play with the young guys coming through.
I suppose everyone has an opinion, yours is just wrong :)
-
Such a small-minded guy it's unbelievable!
IPL 'best of' programme is now starting on itv4 for anyone who does have an interest
-
Will it just be the Chris gayle show?
Gutted I'll miss it I'm off to nets
-
Can't wait!
I showed my good wife the ILP website this evening with the countdown!
She nearly left me!
I don't have Sky Sports so this is my live fix.
Love it!
Who cares if some of the local talent isn't World Class, it's a great tournament and another excuse to stay working from home.
Memo; When I get the new office space we must have lots of TV's with cricket and DAB's with TMS and 6 music interspersed.
-
Personally I can't wait to see Tendulkar and Ponting batting on the same team :D Two of my idols
-
Brett lee's still got it. Wicket from the first ball of ipl 6, broke the stump to boot!
-
That was a great delivery from Lee first up, quick, little bit of swing and seam away and hitting top of off stump. class act and still got it. feel bit sorry for the young lad chand as he is a good player and should have a big future in front of him
-
I don't care who wins any of the matches. I just look to watch my favourite players smashing it about. Some of the stuff you see ABDV and Gayle do in the IPL shows the limit of cricketers through power and dexterity.
-
I do like the IPL i like to see the best players playing together with the worst village cricketers in india to make the numbers up........ i do think it is hurting the test team aswell thoguh
-
It's not for me - IPL is a circus nothing more...
-
Sunil Narine 4/13 vs Delhi, he has to be up there as one of the best bowlers in limited overs cricket currently.
-
Does anyone know why most of the south African players are still playing in their domestic t20 matches? I'm watching Titan vs Warriros and De villiers, morkel brothers, Alfonso thomas, Parnell are a few names that are playing right now
-

Thats the semi finals. Believe that match was live yesterday, but sky did not advertise much.
They'll be at the IPL after the final. Think the final is sunday
-
Ah right ok, not sure the ipl teams will be too happy that the morkels and de Villiers are playing somewhere else!
-
Today is the day. CG is gonna get a ton for sure :D haha
-
http://www.itv.com/itv4/ (http://www.itv.com/itv4/) if you want to watch it
-
I think that's possibly the best ball I've ever seen, and ever will see Mitchel Johnson bowl
-
I stand corrected, that ball to Dilshan was a rip snorter
-
When did Mitchel Johnson learn to bowl?!
Even Ponting at slip looks staggered
terrible hair though
-
I bet the Aussies wish he bowled like this for them, cos that first over was astonishing. Full of jaffas!
Terrible shot from Dilshan!
-
I'm surprised he's not wearing an Alice band. Good bowling from him tho
-
Johnson seems to be bowling well, good nut/bad shot from Dilshan...
-
Anyone got any info about this guy who hasn't played first class cricket but is bowling at the mo? Looks very rough!
-
Rough, sharpish and he's got Mr Kholi under his belt as his first IPL wicket. Different action as well
-
Another wicket for him still think Gayle will destroy him!
-
Oram vs Christian has to be the most average battle I have seen in any cricket.
-
Who needs to be able to run when you hit it as hard as Gayle... boom.
-
Is it only me who really, really, really doesn't rate Dan Christian?!
-
Is it only me who really, really, really doesn't rate Dan Christian?!
Not at all I don't know anyone that rates him, a poor man's Ronnie Irani and that's saying something!
-
I can't stand watching him, getting paid serious $$$ as well.
-
Can someone get a pic of the SF pads being worn by the RCB no 7? They are disgusting1
-
Why is kohli still wearing his pads? And is it just me or do the stickers on arun karthiks sf look really classy? Love the minimalist look!
-

To me they look like puma flex pads mate, with some form of class over ?
-
To me they look like puma flex pads mate, with some form of class over ?
I did think that but whatever is over them is making them look shocking!
-
92* from Gayle, innings saved. Who's going to get the runs for Mumbai?
-
92* from Gayle, innings saved. Who's going to get the runs for Mumbai?
Hope it's pollard tbh. When he gets going he's amazing to watch, i wonder if gayle uses the heaviest bat in international cricket. It's brobdingnagian!
-
no, but ponting scattering the cheerleaders with a big biff to "cow" corner was marvellous!! #scatterthehoney!
-
Why did the commentator just say "both bails have to removed" when tendulker was just ran out? surly you only need to break the wicket by removing one bail.
-

no idea! plenty of times iv been bowled and only had one bail off. am i not out?
-
What are the elbow sleeve things that Kolhi is wearing? Are they a medical aid or to protect the skin when slidding?
-
Why did the commentator just say "both bails have to removed" when tendulker was just ran out? surly you only need to break the wicket by removing one bail.
Because you need to remove *both* bails to run out SRT....
-
Do enjoy seeing Christian get some tap from Karthick!
-
Did christian get dropped on his head as a child? Shocking bowling.
-
RCB's got this in the bag unless Pollard whacks it out of the ground this ball. Kumar has bowled this last over well.
Edit... 4 off the last ball.
-
Saw 5 mins of the game, switched off.
-
Was a good game. Just shows the importance of a good cricketing wicket (and gayle). Unlike the first game and probably most of kkr home matches, which are horrible viewing wickets.
Don't mind spin, but bowlers getting away with bowling 100kph or bowling slower balls every ball because the wicket is slow and low is not on.
-
Watching Uthappa bat makes me want an SG :( I thought I'd got over all of this wanting to buy bat's thing
-
Tom I know the feeling. I'm after some new keeping gear and watching the IPL is making me want SS kit
-
Pain in the rear end :(
-
Loving the blue Morrant pads on display right now, oh and the close ups of the cheerleaders...
-
Who thought this match would end up with Steyn on a hat trick...
-
Steyn is just unreal, some silly shots but he's bowling very well
-
Now Dravid is making me want to buy an SG :(
-
Now Dravid is making me want to buy an SG :(
How many bats do you have?
-
Too many bats, too many many bats!
-
Now Dravid is making me want to buy an SG :(
Jayawardena's SF is always a tease for me :(
-
That was some catch to dismiss Jayawardena
-
'It must be the shoes'

Not a fan of Sg or Sf but I'd like to see how a Nike bat goes... ???
-
Not a fan of Sg or Sf but I'd like to see how a Nike bat goes... ???
I'd also like to see how a Nike (SG/SF/SS) bat goes
-
Would be interesting, but who makes the off the shelf Nike sticks?
I'm still angry about the fact there only releasing those spikes in India
-
I'm fuming, maybe we need a forum friend to go over and bring a load back!!
-
Definitely mate, the black ones look unreal with the coloured kits, but I'd love a pair of the white ones look so so comfy
-
Not a fan of Sg or Sf but I'd like to see how a Nike bat goes... ???
Depends what bat the stickers are on ;)
-
Big hissy fit from Tendulkar after being given LBW for 0 off the bowling of big (not so nasty) Dirk Nannes.
-
Big hissy fit? If you think that's a big hissy fit then I suggest you stop smoking whatever it is that you are!
-
Big hissy fit? If you think that's a big hissy fit then I suggest you stop smoking whatever it is that you are!
Tendulkar yelling at the umpire, by his standards that's a full on melt down!
-
Entitled to be angry if you don't think your out though surely? If he threw his bat on the floor, helmet gloves and sat in front of the stumps saying 'me no play, I wasn't out' then I'd class that as a big hissy fit
-

Yeah I guess, but SRT never really shows any emotion when he's given out.
I guess getting a 0 on your favourite batting venue is no fun!
-
Mr Pollard just said his bats are 2'10 - 2'11. SS are making some big bats at that weight for him lol
-
......... who is seriously watching that rubbish when there's Heineken cup rugby on all day??
-
Shut your mouth :D
-
ooooh nibble :D
-
Haha, not the nibble your used too though eh?
-
Not even justifying that with a response dear boy ;)
-
:D
-
RR Bats?
-
Wondering if Shane Watson bought this off e-bay :o, whats up with the stickers?

-
It's a Zona mate
-
It's a Gona mate :D
-
How on earth did he manage to snap the handle itself ???.
-
It was all a bit strange. He changed his bat after a handful of deliveries. Then he goes for a drive which sounded like it came off the toe of the bat and it is safely pouched by Morgan. The first bat sounded terrible, the second bat broke. Not a good advert for GM.
-
Second time for Watson as far I know;
(http://cache3.asset-cache.net/gc/108013560-shane-watson-of-australia-has-his-bat-break-gettyimages.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=R4V%2FQay2ANwpmCZhkZDSEnhTwJKBMdEnTF1kIUsU5TaZzUWQJseauDbdxWeI8SY7VtaX%2F3M65RyR28lTauqi8A%3D%3D)
This was Umar Akmal's;

-
It's a Zona mate
It couldn't have been a proper zona as it looked like a flare shaped bat with zona stickers on. Their wasn't a power bulge in sight ;)
-
GM giving international players faulty bats ???.
-
Alternatively a bat is at its best when the handle is breaking and Shane Watson (who has not scored a run in ages) had returned to an old favourite... but when things aren't going your way... snap!
-
Classy stuff from Kohli, making it look very very easy.
-
Good for my fantasy team as well, apart from gayle out and steyn with no wicket....
-
Sachin's bat is making one hell of a sound today. Sounds unreal
-
any one reckon they could have done better than dinda 4-0-63-0?
-
any one reckon they could have done better than dinda 4-0-63-0?
I think you'd struggle to do worse! Think that was the joint most expensive 4 over spell in the IPL
-
James Anderson and Jayasuriya share the international T20 record with 64 off their 4 overs.
63 is the highest in IPL according to the stats
Who can name the unfortunate player with the worst Odi spell off 10 overs?
-
Was it Murali falling one short of his century??
-
Was it Murali falling one short of his century??
Its an Australian... :D

Mick Lewis - serious bowler ???
-
Mick Lewis - serious bowler ???
Serious Bowler...!
So when will million pound Maxwell play for Mumbai?
-
I know it's probably been discussed ad naseum, but I can't remember. What markings do we think Kohli has covered on the edges of his 'Nike' bat?
Is it SG? It looks huge!
-
Looks like BAS to me mate, the other day it did anyway.
-
Was the new SS logo covered up the previous games on Kohli's bat

I remember a quick from zimbabwe going for 100+ but dunno if it counts as list a or odi.

Dan Christian continues to anger me. So over-rated and a waste of money!
-
Dan Christian continues to anger me. So over-rated and a waste of money!
he is terrible!
-
I know right?! How does he manage a contract every year is beyond me! It's worrying how much it angers me :(
-
I think he has a few good games every now and then but that's about it!
-
It probably doesn't help that I have a strong disliking for him already, scrutinising anything he does haha!
AB looks in the mood at the end of this innings as well.
-
Could end with 180 here if AB gets 5 out of the 6 balls in this over
-
He just took Morris apart! I do love it when he is like this. Somebody will have to go big for CSK, wouldn't mind Hussey getting some runs!
-
De Villiers 64 off 32, decent knock that!
I just don't get the point of the swapping orange cap basically every day. ???
-
Bit of noise around suggesting the latest IPL game was a little "dodgy"
I've not seen it, can anyone shed some light on this?
-
2 to win off the last ball, it's hit to 3rd man where the ball is caught.
Only for the ball to be called a no ball, because of a massive Aamir sized overstep.
-
It was won with RP Singh bowling a no ball so make your own assumption really.
-
Hmm, doesn't sound great.
-
Chennai's reaction is pure surprise, Kholi looks like he can't believe it so personally I don't believe the hype.
-

Cracking finish to a game. He no-balled by a big margin!
Dhoni's 104m six was a highlight for me
-
I hear he he bowled another largish no-ball earlier in the match and also dropped a catch :-[. Don't want to make any assumptions here but hoped he's not involved with anything :(.

The no ball was closer than that, that's where is foot finished up. He bowled 2 like that yesterday.
Think the morning game was more dodgy with no balls and particularly yuvraj's drop of tendulkar.
-
Good to see Morgan having a go and spanking some runs! 8)
-
is it just me or is Sachithra Senanayake a blatent chucker?
-
Certainly looks like a suspect action to me, but I'm no bowling expert!
-
Just watching Kings XI and think maybe this could be Gilly's last stand?
-
really liked morgan's knock on that pitch. the six he hit off the spinner was sheer timing...he didn't even get to the pitch and was off-balance....wonder how he got so much power on that
-
is it just me or is Sachithra Senanayake a blatent chucker?
Add Copper to that list. His slower ball is the biggest chuck. So much bending of the arm
-
Just watching Kings XI and think maybe this could be Gilly's last stand?
Thought the same thing. I'd rather he not play as it's a shame seeing such a legend go out like that.
Saying that, he'll go and smack a 40 ball hundred now!
-

Yup he's embarrassing himself out there at the moment. Don't think he will drop himself out of the team.
He's also signed up for the west indies T20 competition I think
-
I'm not sure the West Indies T20 will be as good a standard and certainly not as high profile.
-
I think I saw the best shot I've ever seen in T20 or any cricket for that matter today........... And the floor is open ;)
-
Steve Smith's shot off Dwayne Bravo?
-
Correct Thomas!
-
Steve Smith's shot off Dwayne Bravo?
It was a brilliant shot don't get me wrong but I find it funny that suddenly he's the best player in the IPL according to all the Indian commentators. They love to hype up a player!!
I'll just pop this one down here...
http://youtu.be/irL7ZCq7l2A (http://youtu.be/irL7ZCq7l2A)
-
Don't agree that he's the best player in the IPL, was just a supreme shot! I think Smith's was better!
-
I think Smith has been unlucky to keep missing out in that side, with them loosing a few games. Finch is just a biffer, I think Smith has the ability to play nice shots, he's a very good fielder as well. Albeit he was in the right place to take those catches, still gotta grab them
-
The commentators have been shocking in my opinion. One example springs to mind was when a batter was on around 30 odd off 40 odd balls and the commentators were slagging him off for not being the right player for the situation and that he scores to slow, he then proceeds to hit a few boundaries and gets his 50. The commentators now applaud him for a 'wonderful knock' and heap loads of praise on him, all in the space of around 8 balls.
-

Disagree about Finch mate, I think he's the right sorta player for the top of the order! Stats don't often lie, and he's got some pretty decent ones! :)

Is it just me or has the fielding of the indians improved?
-
Is it just me or has the fielding of the indians improved?
Drastically improved mate, some top work from the Indian guys in the field
-
It can't not improve when you've got jonty rhodes, trevor penny et al out there as fielding coaches. The overseas lift the standard considerably as well
-
Here's another couple of beauty's
http://youtu.be/RURaj5teXl4 (http://youtu.be/RURaj5teXl4)
-
I think that the fielding has improved due to the overseas player's leading by example. I think fielding is also taken a bit more seriously by the Indians now, as they realise it can make a big difference in games.
-
Proof that IPL speed gun is manipulated. When Indians come on to bowl it has been showing speeds that seem wrong, I suspect that the operator just forgot to dial it back to normal when Morne Morkel came on to bowl :) lol

Why's Kholi's bat sound like a gun going off?! Sounds absolutely insane

Kohli is on a different level this year, special player.
-
Different gravy that kid is. I'd love to be half the talent he is lol
-
Kohli is on a different level this year, special player.
They have an awesome batting line-up, but Kohli seems to have gone onto another level with the RCB captaincy
-
I'd love to see him play in England's t20

-
The IPL is a good product but I would love to see more Brits playing in it.
And Pakistanis
-
I know politics don't allow but I'd like to see the world's best players in the IPL full stop. Pakistani players are some of the best in the world at this format, and would only add to the quality of the product!
-
And Pakistanis
Exactly, as I've just said. Afridi is a draw in this format in any country!
-
Quite a few Pakistani Coaches on the side lines aren't there.
Waqar
Mushtaq
Wasim
Aren't Azhar Mahmood and Sohail Tanvir playing? I suppose Mahmood is using a British visa?
-
Watching that super over made me think one thing:
If Ravi Rampaul played village cricket he'd be the bloke who turned up 5 minutes before the start in a white t-shirt, trackies and black trainers
-

Wasim Akram took time off this year citing personal reasons.
Alongside the coaches, Pakistani umpires are also taking part. Only players are barred.
Azhar Mahmood is there as a Britisher.
Sohail Tanvir is not playing whatsoever.
-
Kohli is playing incredible cricket, now if only he could bat this well in test matches :(
Need's to calm down though if he wants to be taken seriously. Some of the childish spats he's been involved in have been embarrassing.

Have to agree about his behaviour but shows he has some bottle top back himself and his team?
-
I think what Kohli is displaying is just what the indians need going forward. Yes sometimes he goes overboard but there is nothing wrong with wanting to win. The attitude of the Indians when they toured England and Australia was very poor so a bit of aggression and balls is what they need.
-
Mr 30 goes again...
-
I think Mishra could stand a good chance of getting the man of the match
What a performance!
-
How funny was it to see Harbhajan run out, and he showed his usual petulant attitude!

Wow, that is a walloping for Mumbai.

Slightly hollow feeling for this considering the "quality" of the bowling attack. The fact that Luke Wright was played patiently as he was a bigger threat than the other bowlers is disheartening for those who claim the quality of the IPL is top notch...
Still, another remarkable display of hand-eye coordination and power from the big man!
-
the only part of IPL that interests me is Chris Gayle. As soon as he gets out, thats mostly it for me.
-
I've just decided that watching the Kings XI Punjab is enjoyable as Preity Zinta is normally spectating! ;)
She is a cutie!!
Anyone else see Pollard take that one-handed catch on the boundary 7 or 8 foot in the air? Blimey! :o
-
shame that no ball in the final over wasnt called.
Usual ipl of umpires favouring the big teams
But that catch by pollard was soo good.
-
seriously atrocious umpiring by Asad Rauf....he is in the elite panel....
-
The cricket is pretty good
The commentary, and more importantly the umpiring is shocking, seems to be some real bias towards the bigger teams and players
-
So many matches, so difficult to keep up. A few big teams and lets be honest, almost all of them are going to be playing in the Champions League.
I only watch for a few players. ABDV, Gayle, Narine, Morgan, Steyn and a few others. The rest is simply irrelevant cricket.
-
Kings XI game was good, pollard took one brilliant catch
-
Iqbal Abdulla......who can that be allowed
he really does throw it
-
Great entertainment the best t20 tournament in the world and great array of Indian kit

I agree with the fact that its great entertainment, and undoubtedly the best t20 tournament. I just can't get behind a team and support them, which of course is natural!
-
I agree mate I don't support any franchise it just suck razzmatazz
Commentary add to the whole package woeful but yet compelling
-
I agree. Danny Morrison makes me laugh, i know not many like him cos he talks absolute baloney! but i think he adds to the theatre of it. the west indians are the best. not a fan of taufel mind.

Watched it yesterday. Spectacular!
-
great batting but yet again the IPL turns into a piefest combined with some comedy fielding. Wouldn't happen in our t20 or the BB.
-
Jason holder lokks pretty good as a future prospect
6 foot 7 and gets tona of bounce and swing. Not the quickest though!

this is getting boring now. if you dont like it...dont watch it!!
-
that right there was phenomenal from pollard. possibly one of the best 2020 innings ive seen!
-
What a knock from Pollard. Phenomenal!
-
How about that innings from Pollard for Mumbai. Got to feel for Perera, who would want to be a bowler?
-
Superb hitting. In the space of 7 balls they went from no chance to an easy victory, it helped that Pollard hit six of those over the rope. White made a big mistake and bowled Steyn an over too late.
-
Not exactly small sixes either! Pollard factor. It just depends as to how often he can do it!
-
Perera: 3.3-0-55-0
Last 9 balls...
6 - 4 - 1 - 6 - 6 - 6 - 6 - 0 - 6
-
Didn't even realise that it was the final today. Mumbai are 18-3 from 4 overs.
When it all first started I randomly chose a side to follow/support, my choice of Chennai hasn't been a bad one for success!
-
considering their past record and the squad they have...not too difficult to predict their success
-
It was picked randomly, pulled out of a hat in fact. I was lucky! Would be good to see what the franchise system would be like if it came to England.

I would most definitely not be interested! I think its a silly idea personally. As a Somerset fan, I would feel pretty terrible about Trescothick playing for the Eastern Counties Eagles, Trego playing for the Northern Ninnies, and Buttler playing for the Midlands Money Grabbers. Leave it alone, counties have invested in players, for them to se ethem disappear to other areas with more moeny would be heartbreaking!
-
Haha, I can understand where you're coming from. I doubt that it will come to England... yet.
-
I kinda think it would be a good idea if for example it was the south west, where you pick the best players from Somerset, Gloucestershire, Glamorgan for example, and not allowed more than 1/3 of the squad from each first class county. Then they must pick maybe 3 players from the minor counties, and 1 or 2 overseas players. Then I think it would be a good idea! I think the idea of an auction for all players makes it a very difficult idea to get behind as a supporter.

Class first over from Malinga, Hussey and Raina gone. Could be an extremely exciting finish here.
