Weather is lovely here in sunny Yorkshire!
Who is playing thier first game today? Our second team match has been called off already as the other side couldnt put a team out, and have announced that they won't be putting one out for the rest of the season. Not sure what will happen with points there.
I've had a mixed winter nets so really looking forward to getting out into the middle and playing on some actual turf! Hopefully the wicket won't be too wet but I'm expecting a slow track and low bounce...
Good luck to everyone if it's thier first game!

First game tomorrow. Fingers crossed the weather holds.

Very nice here in Sheffield, gutted that I can't play today.
Where are you in Yorkshire?
-
Got our first game today - interclub friendly where we mix up the 1st and 2nd team. Usually swap the bowlers from 1sts to 2nds and it works quite well, but have only managed to muster up 18 players between both teams.
Hopefully availability will improve for the first league game next week, but should be a good day - weather is certainly a nice change.
-
Game today!!! Yet, so blooming excited!! I was awake at 0530 and have been for a two hour per game net, just can't wait. Lovely weather too!!
-
I have to wait another week.
Hopefully we have good weather next Saturday as we don't start until then
After doing outdoor nets in Baltic temps one week and gale force winds the next its a shame we could not make a start on such a good day.
-
First friendly game got 113! Will take that first game
-
First game tomorrow, just hope the lack of being able to net over the last couple of weeks doesn't hold me back.
-
Always nice to get an early ton under your belt. Well done Matt.
-
Won 1st game but can only go down hill from here as got a 5 for and a 50
-
1st game for me tomorrow and I'm on tea duty.
On a totally unrelated note if anyone in the Southampton area fancies making 4 loaves of bread worth of sandwiches tomorrow morning drop me a PM
-

Bit of an underachievement then... It's only proper if it's a 5fer and a 100 ;)
-
Had my first proper game today, first thing I will say to all you guts with nice new bats please ensure your oppo provide decent balls! 4 broken bats today, 2 split completely and there bats were on the second season, bloody ball sounded like hitting a plastic pipe on a concrete wall when they bowled. £600 worth of smashed willow today including one of mine, although mine is easily repairable.
We used a readers and it was fine when they batted.
Any way only scored 16 but all 4's and then took 4 catches behind the stumps so not a bad start to the season from a keeping point of view, got to remember not to shoulder arms to an inswinger :(

That's sad..but i guess reason to get new bats :)
-
Unlike the superstars...
Opened, got 4 off 4 balls :(
Up side !! The 4 was a beautiful on drive so my Blueroom has a stonkingly good middle as I just leaned on it.
Oh well, tomorrow can only be better (I hope)
-
Went in at 10 and got 18 not out. We got 116 and they got that in the last over. Good game though!

Hard luck pal, really annoys me why people don't fork out a bit more money for a decent ball! >:(
Any photos of the damage?
-
Not selected this week, struggling with golfers elbow; hopefully I can shake it off, and not miss bowling this season. :(
Congrats on the results guys, some top bowling and batting by the sounds of things! Best of luck to everyone for the rest of the season.

Will put some up tomorrow mate. Mine is in the vice in the workshop having the glue settle in the crack so I can sand it in the morning to use in the afternoon.

Came in at 6 as tired from the 13 overs so did not get chance of a 100 but was a winning 50 so take it
-
We won by 151 runs, posted 250 off our 40 overs and skittles them for 99.
Cheeky 101* for me which was nice...second 50 off 13 balls according to our scorer, stiff as a board now tho and tomorrow game yet to come :)

Nice way to start the season, shame about the slow second 50 though ;)
-
Yeah I wasn't too popular with their openers who came back on!

Hope you dont do that next weekend against me mate!!!
We had an easy won and I got 3 for 1 in 4 overs, so will take that!!
-
I'm away next week mate unfortunately so can't play :( think Wayne/colley are sorting the YM side as FWCC also have a fixture vs bradley stoke
-
Won by 128 runs, got 5 at deep square leg which would have been a six at most grounds:(
Opened bat for the first time in ages and felt good, dropped a catch on the edge at long on- I never drop catches then I was given the ball and got 3 for 6 off 3.
-
First game yesterday, all I will say is the weather was nice
-
Friendly for the first game of our season, with perhaps the oddest and most frustrating wides rules I've ever played with. 40 overs with anything outside leg is tough, but you can live with that.
The tricky bit was the offside. where they seemed to be calling anything more than a foot wide of the off stump as a wide, regardless. Batsman misses the ball on the offside trying to cut it? Wide. Batsman moves across to try and play the ball and misjudges the height so it goes over his bat? Wide. Batsman manages to pull a slightly shorter offside one back to the leg-side for a slog... Runs. It becomes very frustrating, as ball movement off the pitch is instantly penalised.
The result was we beat them, but they scored 85 ao with 42 coming from extras while we managed to knock it off for the loss of 3 wickets.
EDIT: A pleasant ground for South East London as well...

Bowled the opposition out for 136 today, I took 2-36 off 7.
We won by 1 wicket, I got caught for the most ugly 8 (being dropped twice) you've ever seen. At least the season is underway
-
93* today.. Better than my 4 off 4 yesterday :)
-
Got 1 today that actually came off my pad so basically a duck, on the bright side I got to do a decent amount of umpiring as my opening partner and No 3 knocked off the 125 we needed with ease lol
-
Had my first game yesterday and enjoying my first CBF purchase as the bat has a sweet middle. Shame it only got me 11 with a couple of nice 4s in there.
Took a sweet one handed jumping catch at mid on, mainly due to mis-judging the flight and getting into a horrible position.
Things will get better, I hope.
-
Played on Saturday, Got a duck with a leading edge to Extra Cover
Bowled 6-1-14-1 so not bad there. We won on the last ball
-
Played today, first friendly of the season.
Opposition scored 192-8. I got a nice little catch at mid wicket.
Batted 3 and scored 42 in a 90 run 2nd wicket partnership. Ended a draw with us on 164-4. Not a bad start to the season.

Where's that tim?

Where's that tim?
Charlton Park. Changing facilities were non-existent though, and local rules came from the team rather than ground.
-
Looks a nice ground!
-
Got caught for 5 on Saturday after being way too early on a shot and spooning it up for wide mid on. Also got 1-50 off 7 so not a good day at the office.
Did get a catch and a run out though although to be fair I should've had about 4 run outs if I could pick the ball up
-
Yeah I wasn't too popular with their openers who came back on!
Especially the one you hit for 464646.
I've joined that club for a few games while I'm at Uni. Nearly ended up playing against you then!
-
anyone else get a first baller???

Not first. Got a 6 ball duck though.
-
8 ball duck for me, would like to say it was a good ball but I would be lying

Mine was a leg stump half volley that I manage to edge to extra cover.... Think I need to adjust to slow tracks again...
-
I was very lucky - misjudged the speed of the track and hit a slightly back of a length ball straight up in the air. Luckily high enough to complete a run before it came down, and in a gap enough to cause the fielder running in on it to drop it. Heart in mouth moment...
-
Had a friendly yesterday, and was probably the worst game I've ever participated in because of an awful attitude.
Chasing 350, don't ask why or how they got that much.
I got 11* so a little confidence booster, but we still lost by about 150 runs.

haha i did apologise but he insisted on banging it in shorter and shorter then a full toss and half volley, good bunch of lads though and a good young bowler who cleared out our middle order.
-
Played another friendly yesterday and they scored 173-8 batting first as we bought on some friendlier bowling to bolster their run total after having them in difficulty early on. scored 29 yday before getting caught out when the scores were level...would have been a wide if i left it but with 8 overs left we were home and dry by then.

got a jaffa first up full straight one, lbw, game was over already though

First game lined up tomorrow after last week was cancelled...just realised that I gave my sweater to Arvind at Aswani as an example of club kit so it looks like being a cold one!
