I've never really been keen on Kooka bats with so much concaving across most of their models. And then I saw this......
They are top of the line bats made, apparently, exclusively for Triforce Sports here in Australia by the Kooka guys in Melbourne. They look like outstanding sticks with absolutely no concaving and they are very light for their size. They also have a nice looking, matching set of softs. Not surprisingly, not cheap either. Just to be clear, I'm not advertising. I just took a few snaps whilst I was 'browsing' their range.

looks good
-
Looks good, hopefully the range next year produces some similar bats. Mind you, the similarity of the bats at the moment doesn't stop them from being popular, Kook bats all over Melbourne
-
Yeah, Sydney too. Kookas seem to be everywhere from park cricket to grade. Not my 'cup of tea', but these bats look amazing. Having said that, I wouldn't spend 800+ on a bat.
-
gloves look really nice and I need some new gloves just can't believe there aus only
-
Sorry, just re-read the original post, are they saying these are Aussie made bats, not Indian?
-
That's what they told me, yes.
-
Now that's beautiful, I would consider buying one if they were available in the UK. Never know though, maybe one of the 2015 UK Kook profiles will look like that, haven't checked if they have been released to the public yet!

Ah - 1877 - Referencing the first ever Test Cricket tour of Australia.
-
Classy and understated, why can't all kook softs look like that?! Do they ship overseas? If not, how much do you want?!

Yes mate, I believe it ended 1-1.
-
So that is where the bubble II went...
-
There is a paragraph in the kookaburra documents we have received for the UK 2015 range that talks about extensive investment in their batmaking facilities in both India and the UK, i haven't been able to quiz them on this yet but it does suggest maybe some top end UK Kookaburra bats will be UK made this year.
Also Chad, there are a couple of bats that are similar to this shape in the new UK range.

Christ on a bike!!!! Those prices!!!! That's about £470 for the bat, £100 for the pads and £65 for the gloves!!!!!!!!!!!
Even if I was any good, I'd have to think twice about paying for that kit!
Even on the bundle deal, the split is roughly £410 / £85 / 55 !!!
-
It still looks like a reasonable price sitting on the shelf next to the GN Legend Gold at 1200 AUD! Most top end bats (including GM signature bats) seem to be around the 800+ Mark in Aus this year.
-
Prices over here are ridiculous, but in compared to some the softs are normally priced. Gloves over here go up to $180 I've seen. Madness, just need a Forumite to divert their eyes to here and they'll soon realise the crazy world of forum sponsors and the competitive prices.
What's with this big Kook logo they're going for on the Pads these days? Also were there any softs in stock where you went to or just a few bats?
-
They had bats, pads and gloves.

They had bats, pads and gloves.
Of the 1877 Black range I meant, if that wasn't so clear. What did you think of them?
-
UK prices are not cheap but the Aussie prices beat the UK hands down for being expensive!
I really hope the UK doesn't catch up! >:(

We are slowly getting closer to their prices. Gradually :(

I was at the Bella Vista store here in Sydney and they had full sets of the 1877 Black gear. Softs looked great. They are probably no different to any other high end Kooka softs though.
-
What sort of weights were the Blacks?
-
Mostly 2.8 and 2.9.
-
Going to take a lot of coaching, waiting and carpet cleaning to afford that set! If only rent down in Brighton wasn't quite so ruinous... I'm having to save for potential stuff in my other sport as well, but by the middle of next month will know if I need to keep £1k+ saved for that!
Stickers look great, softs look great, and without concaving a bit of a change to all the kookas I've had, which is why I am keen but at the same time gutted that its only available in Aus.
-
Martin Guptill in his big 237 knock on the weekend looked to be using this bat. Albeit with Kiwi stickers tacked on. Atleast he appears to be..

That is a nice bat. The profile resembles SG sierra 350 released earlier this year

Nah, guptill is using a bat called the 'pursuit' and the colour range is black, grey, and blue with a few ferns added. A NZ only edition sold at Rebel Sport.http://www.rebelsport.co.nz/sports-gear/cricket/bats/8083777/Kookaburra-Pursuit-1000-Cricket-Bat-SH.html (http://www.rebelsport.co.nz/sports-gear/cricket/bats/8083777/Kookaburra-Pursuit-1000-Cricket-Bat-SH.html)
-
Might be pursuit stickers but certainly different profiles... Plenty of concaving on the pursuit. None on Guptils bat
-
Yeah, should have specified. When I say Guptill is 'using the pursuit bat', I mean he's using those stickers. God forbid a pro actually use a sponsors blade!

I stand corrected! My apologies, being in Aus, I wasn't even aware such a bat existed. Really nice looking bat, shame it's got the cookie-cutter Kookaburra profile though - mid-middle with maximum concave.

my comment was towards the Black's profile similar to SG 350 profile.
